Good Stay / Newness Helped
By Rip Stylier, 12/18/07
This s a nice place in the sloping hills around Tucson. I was fortunate to be away from the Construction which could have been an issue. Breakfast was overpriced, but Starbucks on site allowed me to a Coffee & Muffin on the Cheap. The Spa was first class, the golf course is nice, but a short bus ride away. Good Luck if you want to go somewhere else as the location is remote and a significant taxi ride if you go off site for Dinner & Drinks. Restaurant was dark, which makes me nervous, what are they hiding? The view from the Bar into the Valley is Special.

Definitely a class act resort!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/15/07
We spent Thanksgiving weekend at the JW Marriott and found it to be a wonderful & relaxing visit. Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the pool, lush golf course & the mesmerizing twinkling lights of Tucson. Our meals were incredible served in the romantic setting overlooking Tucson. The pool was clean and staff again was so friendly. Our reservations for Thanksgiving dinner were lost, and they were no longer taking reservations, but they went out of their way to fit us in for dinner, which was remarkable. We look forward to returning and told all our friends about it. I'm sure when the front landscaping is completed it will be top notch. Can't wait to return!

What a mess!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/07/06
Driving up to the resort I thought it was an amazing resort, but as soon as i turned the corner, contruction was going on like mad! I had no idea where i was sapposed to go. I was told i could only valet my car. I step out of my car and cant even hear the valet because of a jackhammer being used 4 feet away. Then i encounter the concierge desk, helpful but the cocky jerk behind the counter made me want to check out and go elsewhere. It was a nice hotel, but my first impressions wern't the greatest.

Birthday Surprise that was so Choice!
By Q B, 10/16/06
Beautiful location, Private balcony lets you see the view and not see the other guests. Very relaxing oasis. I cannot wait to return. I had Rockstar treatment all weekend! Great Bar that opens out on to the veranda so you can sip you martini and enjoy a beautiful evening under the stars and look out at the Tucson Skyline. Room service was lightning quick. Cheers, if your lucky enough to go- Make it a point to Stay! and the concierge gives great tips on things to do- Mount Lemon for Oktoberfest was Fantastic!

Beautiful facility, beautiful setting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/06
This is an enchanting place: it's nestled in the mountains overlooking Tucson, and with its adobe-colored exterior, looks almost like a pueblo. The views out every window are exquisite. The staff is wonderful. Best bet: sitting on the patio looking down on the lights of Tucson while enjoying dinner or a drink.

For the previous review-ee
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/06
For the guy bashing on Starr Pass Marriott below, maybe you'll like this: Tucson, Ariz.'s new JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa was recognized for its efforts to preserve the desert landscape and habitat surrounding its site in the Tucson Mountains. Gov. Janet Napolitano presented the hotel with the Arizona Preservation Award, given annually to an individual or organization that has made the most significant contribution toward the preservation of the natural, cultural or aesthetic legacy of Arizona. The award recognized the resort's donation of 150 acres to Tucson Mountain Park, its three-to-one plant replacement policy and its efforts to replant cacti moved during construction.

Truly awesome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/05
Wonderful resort, wonderful service, great rooms, wonderful food at Primo. Perhaps some locals are not happy that the resort was built in the first place, but those who visit here will not be disappointed. Take advantage of the dawn or dusk hikes (check with concierge for days offered).
