Tygart Lake State Park, Elyria

Tygart Lake State Park is a cozy, quiet getaway for couples and families. It sits among West Virginias rolling hills alongside 10-mile long, 1,750-acre Tygart Lake. It is also perfect for small group conferences and retreats and is a favorite spot for family reunions. Tygart Lodge boasts 20 spacious lodge rooms each overlooking the lake. In addition to the lodge rooms, Tygart has 11 modern vacation cabins with fireplaces, heat, modern kitchens and baths, and are completely furnished for housekeeping with cooking utensils, dishes, linens, towels and blankets. Tygart Lake visitors enjoy great fishing and boating on the mountain-stream fed waters of the lake. Tygart Lodge overlooks the lake and offers some of the most comfortable and appealing guest rooms in West Virginias renowned state park system. In addition to the lake, Tygart features a restaurant offering tasty down-home favorites, hiking trails, camping, picnicking, playgrounds and gift shop. During the summer, a park naturalist provides free guided nature programs and recreation activities for all guests. A golf course and a number of historical and popular attractions, including Pricketts Fort, Valley Falls, Philippi covered bridge and Fairmont State University, are nearby. The park is just minutes from the historic town of Grafton, WV, and a short drive from Interstate 79 in north central West Virginia. Choose Tygart Lake for maximum rest and relaxation. Tygart Lake is a US Army Corps of Engineers flood control lake protecting areas from West Virginia to Pennsylvania. During the summer months the lake is held at a relatively normal water level. Between mid-September and April, the lake is drawn down in anticipation of heavier precipitation. Tygart Lake State Park overnight facilities are open from mid-April through December, however reservations are confirmed year-round for these open months. Tygart Lake Lodge is a smoke free facility.
