Metro Hotel San Francisco, San Francisco

This isn't the Ritz, they don't even have an elevator and the rooms are indeed small. However, I didn’t come to SF to stay in my room. Comfortable bed and clean room but what really stood out was the staff, specifically Shana at the front desk. She helped give directions how to maneuver the bus to get to the pier and museum. She recommended Eddie’s Diner up the street for breakfast and it was really good! She took the time and was genuinely interested in helping. I’d stay here again if only because she was so great. Can’t beat the price and right on the bus route.

likes: front desk staff were friendly. dislikes: no breakfast, not enough towels (missing a face towel), bed too small, bed comforter was utterly dirty and cheap, rooms were cheap, with cheap furnishings, toilet clogged, each bathroom has a plunger expecting it to be clogged, the showers are equipped with a "soap" dispenser (DO NOT use this soap, it is a sanitizer; not for washing). over all, the place was over priced and the management is unaware of how other hotels run their business, they need to get with the times, please update your facilities. thank you

we found the metro hotel in June 07. We really enjoyed the balcony/patio area in the back. It has a home like atmosphere. The rooms were clean and the service was great. we will definitely be staying there again!

Clean, next door to killer resturaunt also called the Metro. Friendly staff. Not fancy but comfortable and convenient. Within a 15 minute walk to subway transportation, great resturaunts in the Castro and surface rail on Market. Also very quiet and excellent parking.

Nice "real neighborhood" in San Francisco, close to Golden Gate park and the Haight. A short walk to the Castro. Public transport near and convenient. We would stay there again. No frills, but nice. And the courtyard is excellent. The restaraunt next door has an awesome brunch.

Location is good. Rooms small and clean. The matress sank in the middle, but was OK. Great coffee shop down on the corner. Really good deal for San Fran.

Everyone in the staff is friendly: Dean the man at reception; Eva, the woman who cleans; and the owner. It has a feel of a European pensione. The rooms are simply but very nicely furnished. They are clean and contain just the right amount of furniture. The bed is comfortable. Sheets and towels are changed often. Each room has a toilet and a shower. I have been saying there for over two years at least four months in the year. And I would not stay in any other place. It is very conveniently located for public transport. There are simple but excellent restaurants nearby. And the cost is reasonable. Overall...absolutely superb.

An amazing place to stay, close to Haight Street and shopping. A character building giving the San Franciso experiance. Staff very pleasant and alway ready to help with directions and good places to go! Beautiful little french restaurant located next door was very very tastey! Room was cozy and comfortable. The only one complaint was that there was no parking... But we will definatley be back!

The place was small, but unique place to stay. I don't rent rooms just because they are nice, but a decent place to sleep. There is a French resteraunt downstairs and is quite excellent on its location. There are alot of things within walking distance, plus the local bus runs by the hotel with several other around the corner. The downfall is that there is parking, but only at certain times in this bank lot. Still not that problem unless you are a late sleeper.

The Metro Hotel is a quaint little hotel. It's great for couples or young adults making an excursion to the city. It also overlooks a lovely little french restaurant. This is usually where I stay when I head to the city.
