scratch the surface, compare with dakota eurocentral in glasgow? oh dear! yes it was a monday night, yes i was eating alone, but here the (almost exclusively female) staff are more interested in dissecting their oh so excessive weekend. proper customers (ie those in multiples over 1) were given the courtesy of bread pre ordering, me? no.so I asked as my starter arrived-it never came.Menu reads ok, and ubiquitous "hand cut chips" adorn all grill choices-apart from "English Steak Frites with Bearnaise Sauce" i was sooo looking forward to frites-but, oh no-handcut chips again. If I was an english beef farmer I would be marching on "Dakota" for their dis-service to the brand. Tough, chewy and unfortunately inedible, an apologetic answer to the proud scot's boast. Yes i complained, in the quiet traditional english way, no scene-just a private word to the "maitre d'" about my disappointment. he took the price of the uneaten steak off the bill and promised that he would "remember your face" next time I came. Which i won't.It simply underlines my philosophy of not eating at "the hotel" when staying alone. and so it will be for many of us consigned to eating alone when on business.despite having expense account budgets, treated like lepers with our subversive books, or newspapers, we will frequent the indian or chinese restaurant, where we are welcomed and respectfully left to our solitary pleasures. Dakota locate themselves in positions where the customer, if behaving responsibly, has little option but to dine inhouse-finding an alternative would require abstention from alcohol, or expensive taxis.A priviledge that it charges a premium for. I am writing this while still at the hotel. Cathartic as it may be, I hold out little hope of anyone taking notice of this review-least of all Dakota's illustrious management, but heh, I am starving, and hold out little hope for breakfast, but if you, like me, are on business alone-with rich family lives, and bundles of friends, are considering pampering yourselves when alone in the week-stick to our reliable ethnic friends who know what service, respect and value means.

A magnificant looking hotel in an easily accessed and well signposted location. Unfortunately the service was shocking, the conference rooms used had faulty powerpoints and rickerty tables, the buffet luch was woefully in-adequate, as was the breakfast taking about 30 minutes from ordering with a very limited choice. The most pleasurable part of the stay was checking out.

Very Classy & Modern - 1st class place to take someone when looking to impress! Food was fantastic and value for money. Best feature has got to be the King size bed.

We thought it was a beautiful hotel, and we really enjoyed our 5th anniversary. The food and service was amazing, and the rooms very sexy and stylish!
