This hotel and the staff all rate a 10. We have stayed there 6 or 7 times and would not stay anywhere else. The rooms are very nice, breakfast is to die for, the views from the rooms are the best in Positano. They have a private beach, sundeck, now have a pool. We would never stay any place else. It is also close to the bus for a trip down the coast to Amalfi and/or Ravello. Great market up the hill. The hotel will assist you with anything you might need. Also, please make plans to eat at Bruno's right down the hill from the hotel. Great fresh food and the price is reasonable and the best views of the city at night. Frank & Frank Atlanta, GA.
Hotel Marincanto is a place of unbelieveable views. After traveling throughout Italy in late June and early July, 2007, we were ready for rest and relaxation. We could not believe our eyes as we entered Hotel Marincanto. The lobby is so beautiful and the terrace so inviting and private. Our suite, with it's views, struck us speechless. We especially enjoyed the hotel's plantings - flowers and trees. Our room was spotless, always inviting and very private.
The food was great in Positano. We enjoyed Ristorante Bruno, down the hill from Marincanto, for it's fresh pasta dishes and fish.
Positano is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Going again soon.
I HAVE STAYED IN MARINCANTO
THREE TIMES AND LOVE IT.
IF ANYTHING WAS BAD IT WAS THE SHOWER DOORS. THEY LEAK
ALL OVER THE FLOORS. THE BREAKFAST IS SUPERB, THE PEOPLE ARE THE GREATEST AND
PARKING AVAILABLE BUT IS A
LITTLE HIGH. I WILL STILL GO
THERE AGAIN AND LOVE THE TOWN.
We actually checked out of the Villa La Tartana and moved to the Hotel Marincanto. This property definitely met our expectations of a dream trip to Positano. With breath taking views, beautiful rooms and wonderful service...you can not go wrong. The public spaces included a wonderful terrace for breakfast (included in the rate) as well as a wonderful sun deck overlooking the beach, boats and cliffs. It might be $30 Euro more a night than the Villa La Tartana...but TOTALLY worth it! I have been in the hotel industry (18 years) and have become accustom to nice hotels with service. This hotel met my expectations and made our trip memorable. Our sea-front terrace was large enough to sit and read or relax with amazing views. It was truly memorable of this gorgous place the way it is suppose to be experienced. The town is not large and the streets are graded well, so they are not too steep. EVERYTHING is walkable distance from this hotel, in yet, you are up higher from the beach to get a view and get out of the noise from the busy alley ways that contain all of the shops and tourists. The hotel is also well built so you can sleep at night without hearing your neighbors conversations and door slamming all day and all night, like we did at Villa La Tartana!
Must restaurants to visit: Bruno's, just a few doors down from the hotel, is a small local restaurant with friendly service and great food and a great price. For a more "special" evening of amazing service and atmosphere, as well as fabulous food you must go to Max's, which is just past the main square of the town. Max's also offers cooking classes in the mornings for 70 Euro per person.
