Great Hotel, Great Location
By Christine, 1/16/09
We stayed at the Bali Spirit Hotel just a few weeks ago and we loved it! It was beautiful and in a great location. You have to take the hotel van into town as its too far to walk but the van is always available. The massage was amazing ($25 for 1.5 hours) and the gift store (not on the lobby level, the store below by the pool) had amazing pricing..the smaller lobby gift shop was priced way too high. Overall a wonderful stay, I would highly recommend this hotel to couples as its very romantic although, it was me and my friend and we still loved it!!!

Simply Amazing!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/31/06
It can get a bit difficult to know what to expect when you stray off the beaten path. Let me share with you that this hotel surpassed my expectations by leaps and bounds! The rooms are large and the outdoor showers were my favorite. The property sits above the river and it is one of the most serene places I have visited. The staff was attentive and you can get internet access in the office during business hours. The rooms are rather rustic, but in a good way. The overall environment is exotic enough that you tend to just flow with and enjoy the sheer beauty of your surroundings. During my visit I stayed two nights in Jimberan and honestly I do not recall the name of the hotel. Bali Spirit made a lasting impression!!

Exotic Paradise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/5/06
Bali Spirit was a wonderful experience. My wife and I had spent a few weeks in other parts of Bali; starting with the five star pampering of a suite in Nusa Dua and the accommodating internationally blurred fine dining. I had been encouraged to see the core of Balinese culture in Ubud, and Bali Spirit hotel was recommended by a savvy traveler as a place to stay. The art and culture of Ubud exceeded any pampering offered at a five star resort. The Bali Spirit Hotel and Spa took our breath away upon our arrival when we glanced over the lobby balcony and saw our first view of the property. Bali Spirit is an authentic design that clings to the side of a steep valley with the occasional terrace for the pool and paths. Beautiful pool set against a small cliff, and overlooking the river. It is dramatic, a private retreat in the jungle where the vegetation is luxuriant. The property is very lush and extremely beautiful as it is like being in the middle of a rain forest. It is very different from your regular luxury resort, in that it doesn't have all the 5 star regular amenities such as TV, fluffy pillows, etc. Expect the "exotic" experience of living in the forest. The tariff is very reasonable and the service is good, in keeping with the personal favour of the place. (The owner is from a local family). Food and its cost is again appropriate for the place. Shuttle service to Ubud is convenient, but it is the striking location and the design of the place that makes it so outstanding and for that it is rare find and a bargain The staff were tremendous at the hotel and you always felt very well taken care of as they always looked out for you. We enjoyed all of the other guests that we met at this home away from home as well. Due to the small size of the hotel it captures a very cozy atmosphere where you are made to feel like very important guests. We enjoyed the "spa package" and the included candle lit dinner was amazing!!! The food was above average which was a pleasant surprise! Another added bonus is that the hotel is very economical as well!!! The rooms were very clean and large and the outdoor shower was fabulous. All the rooms are in separate building with 4 rooms per building so it's very secluded. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, would recommend it to anyone looking to experience the real Ubud!! and want something different. Last but not least, Not the most luxurious hotel but excellent value for money and we enjoyed our stay.

"Beautiful, relaxing, good value, would return"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/05
May 16, 2005: I traveled to this hotel with: friends I recommend this hotel for: couples and romantics, honeymooners, singles, active/adventure travelers, tourists My visit was for: extended vacation Would I stay at this location again: absolutely! I loved this hotel. The price was so reasonable, that it sounded too good to be true. I emailed them a few times and asked a travel agent's advice before booking. We were met at the airport for our complimentary transportation to the hotel by the nicest driver. Our standard room (one of the Emerald rooms) was large enough, nice enough, and with a basket of fruit waiting for us. The private outdoor bathroom with huge shower were immediately inviting after the long flight. In the separate dressing area inside, there was a minibar and hot pot with bottled water, instant coffee, and tea. I brought a melitta 1-cup plastic drip coffee maker and decaf coffee with me since I suspected decaf would be hard to find. It was a good choice. I enjoyed the small patio area with my coffee in the morning. The hotel is built on the side of a hill. There are many stairs between reception, restaurant, bar, and the rooms. They can be quite slippery when wet. The restaurant overlooks the river and is quite nice for the included, made to order breakfast. Do order the ginger tea. The hotel was so quiet that I was convinced that we must be the only guests. I was surprised to see so many at breakfast each morning! The hotel staff helped us book tours, massages, and dance performances. The spice bath massage is especially nice. Bali is an incredible place. The Bali Spirit Hotel made it perfect. I can't wait to go back. I would absolutely stay here again.

would return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/5/05
Mar 05 – great value hotel. At this price (65 USD incl brkfst, not-including tax & svc) how can you really compare to the Four Seasons and such? We were expecting a backpacker-ish hotel and were pleasantly surprised that it was not. Setting is lovely and grounds are rustic, but pretty. River running through the back is serene. Had a massage in one of the outdoor pavilions, which was a good massage, but girl was a little to chatty, but really just trying to be friendly. Overall, staff was attentive and helpful. Rooms did NOT have the musty smell that some 3* hotels have. No TV (we didn’t care), 2nd floor rooms have small balconies, but just enough space to relax. Stocked mini-bar at good prices. Don’t expect big, fluffy towels and the beds were a bit stiff. Bathroom is rustic, outdoor design, but clean and acceptable. Nightly turn-down service and mozzie coil lit in the bathroom. Breakfast was average, but acceptable, that was the only meal we ate at the hotel. There are PLENTY of good restaurants in Ubud. Pool was clean and staffed. Free shuttle into Ubud which runs on a specific schedule. If you want to go at your own pace, it was only 1USD. For only 2 nights, this hotel was fine! For a longer stay in Ubud (and with a little more $$), maybe look for one step up. We moved here after 4 nights at Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua and in comparison Bali Spirit is a fantastic value.
