Bahia Principe Tulum, Cancun

The grounds of the property were kept beautiful.When we checked-in,they could not find our reservations. This was stressful as it was 1:00 am in the morning and we just had to spend $160.00 American to get from the airport to the resort. This ride is over an hour.They worked it out, finally. The beach was wonderful although you do have a short walk to the beach from almost all of the rooms. It gets cold and very dark around 700 pm.You cannot go to the beach at dark. Which brings me to the rooms... They, I believe, for the price were substandard. The mini bar was warm (we asked them to fix it many times and it never was right.There were 2 mexcian beers, water, chips (that they do not replace) and choclate in the mini bar.If you are thinking there will be liquor or a selection of drinks in it, you are wrong. There is no room service and the beds were not comfortable. Our ceiling fan was wobbily and a light was broken when we walked in the room. I did not want to walk on the floor without shoes. The drinks were great at dinner and by the pool. The pool was clean as well as the rest of the outside of the resort. The food was okay, the buffet was huge but after a while, it got a little boring and was not as elegent as what you might expect. You are only allowed to go to three of the resturants that are "reservation only." Make your reservations early, whatever you do b/c they fill up (no one told us this.) I would avoid the Japanese resturant. The portions were small and you had to pay extra for lobster. It was our least favorite. We went to the ruins of Coba- hot but beautiful- also included a trip to a Myan Village. That was very neat and we would recommend it. The food on that excursion was delicious- real Mexican. We also went to Xel-Ha. If you like to snorkel it is perfect and makes for an all day adventure.Overall it was a good trip but would we go to this resort again? Probably not.
