Hampton Court Hotel, Glasgow

One of the best budget hotels I have ever stayed in. Perfect in everyw ay from the welcoming and charming proprietor (who also presided at breakfast). A spotlessly clean well equipped room (mine wasn't en suite but the communal facilities were spotless) and an excellent cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for the genial host - he was even able to satisfy a tentative enquiry from another guest who asked whether they might have any peppermint tea! The hotel is about 15 minutes steady walk from Queen Street rail station and 20 minutes walk from Central. Very handy for the new ABC live music venue on Sauciehall Street
