The carpets were dirty and stained throughout the hotel. Obviously no maintenance has been done in this hotel for a very long time. Our group booked 3 rooms and just our one room had 17 un-repaired holes. We had no hot water our last three days and the lift didn't work the day we checked out so we had to lug all of our luggage down the tilting, rickety spiral staircase from the third floor.
This hotel looks NOTHING like the beautiful photos on the web site.
The night desk clerk was very friendly and helpful but the day desk clerk was abrupt and surly and he got worse every day that passed. There wasn't even the slightest attempt to clean the mildew from the showers.
Drunks were checked into the room next door and we could hear them fighting and arguing all night just before a trade show, which made us really tired for the purpose of our trip. I finally walked down to talk to the desk clerk at 3 AM who called the room once and asked them to fight quieter. That's it!
The neighborhood was very nice and the Italian restaurant across the street is excellent as was the La Piscine Cafe a block away.
Overall, this hotel was the low point of our trip to Paris. This was our fourth trip to Paris and we'll know better than to book this hotel again as it was more expensive than the other hotels we've stayed at but was a major let down.
My wife and I spent 6 nights in this wonderful charming place. The hotel is located in the nice cool neighboorhood of Montmarte, the beautiful Sacr-Coeur Basilica is 2 metro stops away, or if you feel like walking 3 blocks from the metro station, though i highly recommend to take the metro because it can be very tiring. the Basilica area is full with nightlife. One will definately need to check it out!
Everything is small here as it is expected in Europe, the elevator can only hold up to 3 persons. Travelers with more than 2 pieces of luggage will probably have to take 2 trips.
Room is not small in Paris standard, bathroom is clean with nice hot water. NO AC in the room so travelers beware, we didn't find the place too hot since Paris nights and mornings are cool, well during late august early sept.
Front desk people are probably one of the nicest and friendliest you'll ever find, especially the lady who checked us in, she was super friendly and spoke excellent English (in a nice French accent of course :) )
Location is perfect, as the closet Metro station is on your left 1 major street over (about 50 meters or 160 feet), metro line is 12.
This place is highly recommended for the price one pays!
Wonderful hotel! The staff spoke enough English and we spoke enough French to be able to communicate well. The place is very clean and very close to some good restaurants and the metro station. The ensuite bathroom is huge compared to some European hotels I have stayed in. There is an elevator (albeit a two person elevator - very small) which is helpful in gaining access to the upper floors with your luggage. The breakfast is included and consists of a baguette, a croissant and juice, coffee, or tea. The walls are kind of thin, so we spent some evenings listening to our neighbors partying, but that can be expected in any hotel. Everyone was friendly and courteous and I would stay at this hotel again in a SECOND the next time I visit Paris.
