Grand Paradise Bavaro, Punta Cana

I read all of the reviews about this place before we left, but took it all with a grain of salt - good and bad. When we got there, we put our luggage in the room and went to go in the pool. When my boyfriend and I got back to the room, my camera, which I left on the chair, was gone. We called security, they searched our room, and magically, 10 minutes later we saw the camera on the chair (we believe they put it back after possibly the maid had stolen it). Entertainment was nonexistent, and by the third day, my boyfriend was stuck in bed every day because his stomach hurt so bad. By the 6th day, mine started hurting. When we returned from the trip, I ended up in the hospital with e. Coli poisoning, as did my boyfriend. My issues with that have subsided, but he is still undergoing tests as he is still experiencing the symptoms -- THREE MONTHS LATER! If you're going to spend money, go to another resort. The people at the front desks (main lobby AND club) SUCK, they're so rude. This was my first experience with an all-inclusive, as I usually do cruises (which I LOVE!), and sadly, Grand Paradise has given AI's a bad rep in my eyes!

My husband and I thought we were taking our dream vacation to Punta Cana. What attracted us most was the 'guarantee of sun'. We left fifteen inches of snow for two out of seven days of rain, and three days of heavily overcast skies. You know it is overcast when you vacation from New England weather in January and don't need sunscreen at all when outside. I was hoping to get at least a little tan while there - that was a joke. I understand that weather changes, but don't advertise 'guaranteed sunny days' when that is not the case. As all of the other reviews stated, the food left much to be desired. Same old 'buffet food' every day. The rooms were not clean, especially the bathroom floor. There were pieces of long, black hair everywhere. The bell boy had the audacitiy to suggest it was from us. Guess what - my husband is bald and my hair is blonde. The ATM was 'down' all week and the resort staff couldn't have cared less. We were placed in the wrong room and had to wait four days be placed in the correct room, for which we had already paid extra for an oceanfront room. Most of the international guest were rude (cutting in at the buffet areas, rude, blatant comments about Americans, placing towels and belongings to 'save their spot' at the pools and beach, leaving many guests no place to sit) and the staff did nothing. Of course most of them did not speak English, so they probably didn't understand what was being said. For the price we paid, we will never again vacation in Punta Cana, and cannot recommend the Grand Paradise Bavaro to anyone. It is only a three-star resort on this website, Our AAA representative, who booked our vacation through Apple Vacations, claimed it was a four-star resort.

The furniture in the room is old and falling apart. The bathroom had poor ventelation and drainage. The sliding door in the room was so hard to open that I pulled a muscle opening it. The cable tv was horriable when it worked. The first room that was given to my family was supposed to be 2 Queen size beds, they turn into full size. The a/c was not working very good. Other then that it was a friendly place to visit.

I just the worst hotel in Punta Cana, I love DR and I love Punta Cana but this Hotel is the WORST!!! .....AWFUL!!!!!. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

We were disappointed, because of 2 things. 1) The quality of our room was poorer than we expected. Many things in the bathroom were broken and the hotel personel did not take any effort to repair it although we complained about it. The overall impression of the room is 3 stars at the highest. 2) The food in any of the restaurants was not tasty. I could classify it as hardly eatable. You could eat it only to satisfy your hunger. Only once I had a meal that I satisfied my expectations. However. There are many cons also: The activities, the pool area, the beach and the night program was excellent.

I wish I listened to the reviews before I went there. Well, here is my hounest opinion about this place. The rooms are clean and o.k. the place is big and has a romantic feel to it. The beaches are prestine and the water is heavenly. The place is packed with tourists from Germany and French and only about 5% from the states. The service is substandard (even based on French or German standards). The workers are not as friendly and the shows are borning and lack talent and creativity. The restaurant food is absolutely discusting and almost everything including the salads have some kind of meat or ham in them. They serve the same old thing every time even though the name of it is changed from italian to french to etc. The place has alot of program for kids and teenagers but the adult entertainment is just not there. In conclusing there must be a better place in punta cana.

The staff was courteous but not enthusiastic, they almost seemed bothered when you asked them a question. Also, the food was not that great. Lastly, the gift shop was a rip off. Imagine, having to pay $25.00 american dollars for a bottle of sun tan lotion! I would not go there again. I like the Sun Village better. Now, that is a 5 star hotel!

I can not write something. It was excellent and I remember it for my lifetime long.

myself and 3 freinds went for 1 week and we had an ok time.the staff are very freindly and are always trying to make sure your having fun.the food made me and my freinds very sick,diarea for days...the pool was nice and the beach was beautiful.the night entertainment was fantastic they belong on broadway.the resort and food and service i would give a 2 and a half star.if your going with singles try a better hotel,if your a family or on romantic vist its okay iguess.hey you get what you pay for.

Check in was at 3:00 P.M. We arrived a little early and were told the room was going to be ready by 3:00 P.M. This was not true we had to wait until 4:00P.M. The hotel is beautiful but the furniture is outdated. When we finally got to the room there was a leak coming from the refrigerator, there was a mouse in the room, and the balcony door did not close. When I complained they change me to a different and better room. Every day cleanliness was good. The best things were the beach and pool. Excursions were well organized except the ones organized by Hotelbeds. They cancel an excursion and I was never notified until after the fact. If you speak Spanish beware they cater to the non-Spanish speaking tourist.
