Didn't enjoy stay

In spite of calling twice and making reservations by phone, and giving us the room number that we would be staying in, when we arrived, there was no record of our reservations. We were given a room on the third floor. Shortly after arriving in our room my girlfriend wanted to make a call to her husband, and we discovered the phone was not working, we reported it then went out shopping. When we returned about four hours later, it still was not fixed and my friend was really upset since she needed to contact her husband and had a sick child at home. She went down to the desk to see if they would allow her to make a call from the desk and pay for it and she was denied a call so she became very, very upset with them. In fact she so distressed over the matter that she became sick the next day.
At Check-In, since my friend and I were sharing the room, I asked them to put the room in the two persons name so in case my family or her family was trying to reach either of us, they would be able to find us easily. Apparently, they didnt do this or didn't write it clearly, because when my son called for me, they acted as if I was not a guest in the hotel. Fortunately, my friend was in the lobby area at the time and heard them telling the person on the line that no such person was staying there, she was able to tell them I was upstairs in the room. Unfortunately, I never got the call because the phone in our room was dead.
The bathroom in the room we were given has a window without a curtain so when you are showering, some one from across the highrise buildings could see you. It wasnt very private at all. Also there were plumbing problems in the room. The water in the toilet started to rise to the top, and sometimes when you flushed the toilet, the water came through the bolts where the toilet is attached on the floor. We had to be wiping up water from the floor. Apparently they were aware of the problem in that room because when my friend went to ask for a plunger, they told her they have a plumbing problem in that room and she didnt have to do it. Also the staff at the desk dont speak English very well, maybe that's where the reservations got mixed up too. Overall, I was very not very impressed with the hotel. The rooms were clean, but the service was poor.
