Casa Macaw, Playa del Carmen Centro

We've stayed at Macaw and Guacamaya, which is right next door. It's a toss up. Beautiful homes located 5 minutes from 5th Avenue in Playa. Mayan ruins all around. Beach a short walk away. We snorkle right by the jetty. Pack a lunch. Beer in cooler. Back to the villa for pit stops. Take a nap. Head back out. Walk to Senor Frog. Cocktails. Cuban cigars. Hosts Larry and Janice are right around the corner. Couldn't be more helpul. They book your daytrips, make recommendations for dining & shopping, tell you what to see, what NOT to do. I like having someone familiar with the area that takes a personal interest in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Renting a villa lets you do what you want, when you want. No eating or drinking contests at the all-inclusives. That scene is great for some, but we prefer the flexibility of being on our own. Well, on our own with Larry and Janice...right around the corner. Tennis, pool, hot tub. What else do you want to know?
