Rent A Home Parque Bustamante, Santiago

It has several names, and was difficult to find on line. But our persistence paid off. We stayed five days (for a conference), could have stayed a few weeks. Location is excellent, staff all communicate well in English for those of us who have yet to master Spanish, and all of the reviews I read are accurate. Yes, the breakfast is the same every day, and the windows don't lock (but who expects valuables to be secure in any hotel room?) but the heat works well (we were there in July), there is always plenty of hot water, they are replacing the balcony window/doors and the staff does all they can to take care of our requests. Very close to all the downtown attractions. And the price is hard to beat. Staff recommended places and things for the parents and the twenty-something to do. They arranged for aeropuerto taxis, helped our son practice Spanish, and when they saw my laptop at check-in, the desk clerk handed me an ethernet cable. [Much preferrable, I've discovered, to the promise of 'wifi' that turns out to be so slow as to be practically worthless.] Much more than a low-cost, well-located hotel.
