Relaxing and peaceful retreat

We found a haven just outside the main town of San Ignacio at the Log Cab-inn. After touring the cayo all day, returning to the hill-top pool to cool off with a dip and a cold drink was heaven. From the patio adjacent to the pool just over tree tops you can survey the surrounding rolling hills and catch a cool breeze.
Drinks and dinner are served on the patio and we enjoyed eating breakfast there also. The food is very good and homemade. We enjoyed fresh grilled fish with rice and beans, braised pork roast with yummy mashed potatoes, breakfast with fresh fruit platters and good coffee. The rum punch was the best!
We found the service very friendly. Our hosts were helpful in giving directions to the local attractions and helping us make the most of our time in the area.
The cabins are simple, clean and comfortable and private, interspersed amonst citrus trees. The inn is far enough from the highway to afford peace and quiet. We slept well.
We spent time in San Pedro and enjoyed ourselves, but fell in love with the Cayo area surrounding San Ignacio and San Elena. We loved exploring the area by car and the town by foot. The locals were very friendly. We enjoyed simple food that was fresh, tasty and cheap. Not a Starbucks or a Mcdonald's to be found!
We are planning to return in a few weeks to San Ignacio and the Log Cab-inn! Can't wait!
