Description

Perched on a knoll with incredible views of city lights and volcano and mountain range, this 3-acre fruit and coffee farm offers typical serenity and sounds of nature and bird watching...yet only 10 minutes from a lovely town of Heredia. The 3 wood-panelled upper rooms have balconies and a large shared bathroom.2 private cozy apartments have kitchens and private bathrooms. The hostess Debbie, a former actress and concierge for the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, opened this homey country inn 12 years ago and enjoys greeting guests from all over the world. We have been recommended in world wide guide books as one of the friendliest and helpful B&B's, while guests have called this place a touch of heaven.

By ,
Well first everything in here is true..well the picture is not true cause those pictures are from a nice hotel however the all comments are true cause I stay there and is ones of the worst places in heredia and expensive.. The amount of money the she asks for the rooms is not worthy, all the bed full of hair and smell really bad cause she has 2 old dogs plus her cause she doesnt take shower either.... any ways I advise you dont go there...trust me they are better places and cheap in heredia ....!! she needs a phys co...!!!

stay away !!!
By ,
The good reviews must have been from some time ago but now the place is not worth the going too. This place was probably nice at one time but now is in need of a lot of repair. The main house smells like an unkept dog kennel, has two old dogs and a cat inside and the kitchen looks like it hasn't been clean for a long time. The apartments are average at best and the so called "chalet" is a basic cabin with lots of creature living with you - spiders, cockroaches, earwigs, snakes, scorpions .......... She advertises hot water showers they are the suicide showers with exposed wiring that barely get warm The owner hates the locals with a passion, she never stops complain about them, she needs to go back to England The views are nice but the place is far from peaceful, she has 6 dogs that only bark a little but the neighborhood has at least another 12 -15 dogs that go on barking fits for hours day and night !!!! bring your earplugs It is like staying with overprotective parents, she controls the entrance and you have to get permission to come and go and she will tell you not to go anywhere is to dangerous??? You will get little peace, she will dominate any conversation you try to have. much nicer places to stay in this area , better to go to them.

Nightmare...Beware of Debbie King...
By ,
We had read favorable reviews of Debbie's Inn, and made a reservation with her for the first night of our trip to Costa Rica. We arrived without trouble, but upon meeting Debbie, we were greeted with nothing but negativity toward any plans we had to travel anywhere else in Costa Rica. She told us how Arenal was so far way--at least 6 hours (only 2.5 when we actually made the trip)--and it would be best just to stay in the Central Valley (and pay her to arrange trips for us, of course!) Anything we mentioned--Monteverde, Guanacaste, even Manuel Antonio--she highly recommended against. Thank God we didn't listen and got out of there the next day to enjoy a fantastic time traveling around Costa Rica. Debbie would not help us, and would not allow us to use her phone because it was too costly to her. We had to go out to the town of San Rafael, make our own connections and arrangements in an internet cafe. She could not have been less accommodating. When we told her of our plans, she told us we should not have talked to Costa Ricans, because you absolutely cannot trust them (yet she has lived in this country surrounded by people she cannot trust for over 20 years--meanwhile she opens her home to complete strangers all the time). Furthermore, Debbie's Inn is quite a ways off the road, which required us to trek about 100 meters through the mud (to be fair we did visit in the rainy season) since she doesn't have any kind of drive with our luggage and all (couldn't she have been a bit hospitable and offered to drive us to the gate in her RAV4?) The shower did not warm up at all--ice cold--even though I waited for a good while. The inn is dusty and dirty, and after I left, I noticed my clothes were full of pet hair. Debbie, who seemed to have an excuse for everything, did say that her maid was on vacation (by the way, the gardener was also on vacation, she said--translation:she does not have a maid or gardener). We did not have the pleasure of eating there because since we were leaving so early (7 AM) the next day, she said she wouldn't be cooking because breakfast was at 8:30. I asked for a banana or something, but she told me they were out of season--even though everywhere else we went we found plenty of bananas. She told us we were on our own. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for accommodations in the Central Valley. Debbie charged us $135 + we paid our own taxi to her place (around $25) for one miserable night at her inn. You will not have a pleasant experience. Take this advice from someone who has traveled frequently in Latin American, and my husband, who grew up in South America--there are much more peaceful, pleasant (not to mention clean and accommodating) places to stay!

A Nice Stay in Proximity to San Jose
By ,
We don't understand the real negative vibe of earlier comments. Our stay at Debbie's was very nice with Debbie herself, in her helpful recommendations for navigating local stops and transportation, one of our highlights. Moreso than any of our previous three stops in Costa Rica, we had the opportunity to interact (with Debbie's help) with the local customs and culture of Costa Rica specifically San Rafael, a very nice city on the outskirts of San Jose. The Inn has fabulous views and great breakfasts all while providing peace and tranquility especially in it's proximity to San Jose. Our family of five (three teenagers) would recommend Debbie's Inn for anyone who wants to (a) interact with Costa Rican customs and culture (b) experience a Cafe Britt tour(c) be close enough to San Jose without having to deal with the city itself or (d) interact with an Innkeeper who is most gracious in her hospitality!

I wil never go here again
By ,
This is the most beautiful place as far as the suroundings go, but I had a truly awful experience. Something set the person who runs the place off and she totally cursed me out and raised her voice with me. I was then told to "have a good life." and she slammed the door!

Simply The BEST B&B we have ever visited in Costa Rica
By ,
First the location Heredia Hills ...25 minutes from Airport and only 15 minutes from ugly San Jose, this 3 acres of HEAVENLY fruit/coffeefarm with butterflies, birds, and tranquility YET only 10 minutes from lovely town of Heredia made us change from our 2 night reservation to a 2 weeks stay in a charming guesthouse with kitchen living rooms and Incredible views from our patio of the Irazu Volcano and City lights . The Hostess Debbie was fun and delightful ..after much probing we discovered she was and an actress/singer and restauanteur in Hollywood California ..although she hails from Liverpool,England has spent half her life in the USA ..so she is now a Citizen of "both worlds" She also managed to squeeze in carrer as a Concierge at the prestigeous Century Plaza Hotel, in L.A. I guess she must have been a gracious there as she is a host at her own establisment ..fun company..great guests great food we WILL definitely be back..SOON
