I have never stayed here, but I intended to on October 9-11th of this year. I was going with the youth from my church for the YC convention. I had called earlier this year and they didn't have a room for me. Then a week before the convention they phoned and said they had one. I told the lady that I would book the room and see if we could raise the money, and I would let her know. I gave her my VISA number to hold the room. I tried some fund raising, but was unable to come up with the money. I called back 48 hours before the time to stay there, and they told me they weren't accepting cancellations. If I wanted to cancel, I had to do it the week before. She didn't change her mind after I told her that I didn't have the room a week before. I talked to the manager, and he told me, "Welcome to the world of conventions" and said he would still charge my VISA if they couldn't get someone else to stay there! Usually a hotel only requires 24 hours notice, and they never gave me a time frame at all!! Now I might be charged $235 for a room that I will not be staying in, and cannot afford! So much for 'customer service'!!!!
My sister and I stayed here for one night. We were travelling to St. John's from corner brook. Arrived around 9 pm and just wanted somewhere to sleep after working all day and travelling on the highway in the winter for 4 hours. When I entered the bathroom the next morning I noticed that the bathroom ceiling was moldy and falling down ( i have pictures).
It was disgusting. Will not stay here again.
I was not a guest at this hotel, but on August 12/07, my husband was a guest there. I called the hotel to speak to my husband three times that night, the first two times he was unavailable. Upon calling the third time around 11:20 pm, I asked the employee at the front desk, Irene, that if I did not get to speak to my husband could I leave a message, she answered yes and then in a very aggressive tone said to me well what is his room number. That I did not know , and neither did he till he arrived earlier that evening, she then in the same aggressive voice says to me well what is his name. I found this person to be a rude employee, and the tone of voice she used in our conversation to be very rude as well. After this conversation with Irene, I would not and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Starting to show the wear and tear of its age. Run down. No dining room is a negative. The rooms appear dated and run down. Dark colours did not contribute to the atmosphere. Did like the balconies. The hallways were also run down.
