Hostal Los Alpes, Quito

We stayed here for a few days last year and were very pleased. The price was low yet we had a large well-furnished room with a private bathroom. We walked to most places in Quito as the hotel is on the edge of La Mariscal where the main shops and restaurants are to be found. It is on the side next to the historic centre close to the US Embassy. We also went to some places close to Quito in taxis booked by the hotel. Around $100 a day for a driver to take us wherever we wanted and back in the evening. It has a really welcoming atmosphere with lots of art and so on around the reception area, lounges and bar. After the bustle and noise of the big city it was a welcome relief to walk through the door into what felt like a calm, cool and relaxing family home.
