Great hotel for the value
By ,
I stayed at three different hotels on my Korat visit last month, all within the central Korat area (near The Mall shopping complex). Rachaphruk was the best value for my money. I paid for a single bed room with a decent sized bathroom (with bathtub) for a little over $40 dollars (U.S.) per night. You get a free breakfast coupon for each night stayed (which most hotels in Thailand do). There is a nice pool and a gym to work out in which is free to use; the gym is nothing spectacular but has a mix of machines and free weights, and several treadmills and bikes. There are two computers with internet in the lobby, and there is no charge to use it (just ask the lobby whenever you want to use it). The main lobby restaurant is open 24 hours a day and serves western style meals as well as Thai cuisine. A can't miss is the dim sum buffet served during lunch at the Chinese restaurant located next to the lobby. For a little over $5 U.S. per person I was served five plates of appetizers which were meals in themselves, along with six baskets of delicious dim sum treats. I have never had so much food for so little price in any place I've been to in Thailand; highly recommended.

Decent Hotel close to downtown
By ,
We have stayed at the Sima Thani many times but a couple of years ago they were full and we had to find another place. We wound up at the Rachaphruk hotel. Parking is tight. The room are large with good views of Khorat on the upper floors. True King size comfortable beds. I think we paid 1600 baht for a delux corner room. Regular room is something like 1100 baht. The property is not as extensive as the sima thani but the price does include a decent breakfast. You can walk to the Mall shopping center or the tesco Lotus store from this hotel. They are about 1 block away.I have oictures of the rooms if I could figure out how to post them. I wound up on this site becuase I was trying to find the phone number of the hotel to make another reservation there.BTW hotel has a disco in the back. Seems to be a the thing on a fri or sat night.
