It is not clear to my wife or me how or why the Olympic Village Hotel can or should retain its rating as a "3 star Superior Hotel". We were booked there on October 2 and 3, 2006, and it was the worst hotel experience in three weeks in Greece. We did much better for 80 Euros, or less, elsewhere. Outwardly its appearance, pool, and location were appealing. But, the services were less than desirable.
The front desk had to be asked for toilet tissue and towels upon arrival. It was the only hotel which lacked a refrigerator.
The hotel dining room was unable to offer food separate from the contract meals it prepared for group tours.
Air-conditioning was turned off. Fresh air from the open "terrace" doors sufficed during the night but morning brought the smoke of a burning refuse dump less than 100m away.
Beds were remade during the day but trash baskets weren't cleaned.
Electrical outlets were insufficient. One had to choose between having the TV or the hair dryer plugged in. The only other socket was poorly situated by the entrance door.
