I stay here every summer
By Jai, 7/19/09
I've been staying at this hotel for the past few years now everytime I vacation in the Philippines. The location is perfect! Everything you need is available after a few steps to the Mercury Drug Store across the street. The staff is very welcoming and inviting, however, a few of the security guards there are a little rude. They usually joke around but their jokes are sometimes a little too much. Other than that, the rooms are simple but nice. This isn't a luxury hotel so if that is what you were looking for, go to the Renaissance a few blocks away. It's next to the mall too but it's a lot more expensive. The Capiz Cafe, the in-house restaurant serves great food in a timely fashion. The room service is just as quick. I love the Adobo Pilaf and Pancit Canton! The iced-tea is great, too! The restaurant is on the second floor and is quite spacious. It's not really eye-catching but it will do. Breakfast is from 6AM-9AM and anytime after that, you could order anything. Housekeeping is very accomodating. I stayed in the executive suite and it was great for $80 or just over 4000 PHP. That's a great price. If you're looking for luxury, again, this isn't it. It's a simple, family-oriented, and very comfortable hotel. The prices are a little bit more pricey than the stores outside but only by a few PHP. Did I mention there's a massage parlor and deck pool on the top floor by the penthouse? It's great! This is a great hotel to stay in. I've been staying here for the past few years now, every summer, and I'm always greeted by the same great staff, along with a couple of new friendly faces. If you get a chance, stay at this hotel. Why pay more than you have to when this hotel can provide it for you or nearest to the stores that can? The Renaissance was great too, but it's all luxury. The staff there was actually a lot more rude than the security guards at the Charter House. I was standing outside waiting for the bellstaff to deliver my luggage to my room and all they did was text. I had to yell both in Tagalog and in English to get what I wanted. Atleast at the Charter, you get everything you need, when you need it. You get what you pay for and let me tell you, it was well worth it.

Not for Recommendation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/26/09
No designated non-smoking rooms. The restaurant does not have good dining ambiance, not inviting at all.

Its a great place to stay.if you like shopping loads of malls near. Very friendly staff that will go out of their way for you. Excellent for all ages and very good place for children as well. Nice area with no surrounding working girl bars. We stay there everytime we go to Manila.

I can wait not to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/08
the location is perfect near the malls, restaurants. the hotel need a bad make up. the room carpets smells like a soaked carpet let to dry for days. My allergies worsened after a week stay. The management should upgrade the hotel air filters. I recommend the hotel for budget stays like staying in a street corner inns. The staff though are nice.

I like the location being near everything
By NenitaR, 3/27/08
I think I have been staying at charter House for a number of time, only when I am going back to USA and would stay there at the most 2 to 3 days. I feel safe to get a taxi cab from there going to the airport and I think they know the driver that I can rely on. The place is closer to the Greenbeelt area which is importantly very close to the church that I can just walk by. The restaurant are side by side and the Mall is walking distant. So far this is all the reason why I pick to stay here. About the staff I do not notice anything like negative behavior. About the room I think it is ok to stay for few days to have a place to sleep over before departing. The last time I was there was in 2005. I am visiting home in May this year. My travel agent is taking care of every places and hotel I will be staying but I am thinking to stay in Charter House which is not one she has chosen for me. Anyway overall I am ok with the Charter House. Thank you and I hope I could see some improvements because the last time I was there there was some renovation going on. Good luck!

Cool place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/08
The reception staff aren't very friendly all the time. But most of them are alright. Great rooms and great location in the Manila area. I wish they had one like it at the same price range in Makati!

disgusting executive suite rate
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/22/07
Upon reaching the place we expected the chaos on the lobby but at least we would be fine at the suites which we paid almost 100 U$...filty carpet, A/C so noisy ,located close to the generator and couldn't sleep, neighboring rooms are noisy( the partition is not concrete so its hollow) ...not worth the pay better add a little and be in 5 star hotel.

RUDE FRONT DESK, UNACCOMODATING, AWFUL PLACE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/07
FIRST IMPRESSION, RIGHT ON THE FRONT DESK, THE STAFF ARE RUDE, UNACCOMODATING. THE EXECUTIVE SUITE THAT THEY GAVE US SMELL LIKE SMOKE, NOT CLEAN, BROKEN AIR CONDITIONER, NO SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER IN THE SHOWER. EXECUTIVE WAS OVER RATED, TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THIS ROOM--SHOULD NOT BE CALLED EXECUTIVE SUITE ROOM. WE WILL NEVER EVER STAY IN THIS AWFUL HOTEL. VERY RUDE FRONT DESK.
