I stay here every summer
I've been staying at this hotel for the past few years now everytime I vacation in the Philippines. The location is perfect! Everything you need is available after a few steps to the Mercury Drug Store across the street. The staff is very welcoming and inviting, however, a few of the security guards there are a little rude. They usually joke around but their jokes are sometimes a little too much.
Other than that, the rooms are simple but nice. This isn't a luxury hotel so if that is what you were looking for, go to the Renaissance a few blocks away. It's next to the mall too but it's a lot more expensive. The Capiz Cafe, the in-house restaurant serves great food in a timely fashion. The room service is just as quick. I love the Adobo Pilaf and Pancit Canton! The iced-tea is great, too! The restaurant is on the second floor and is quite spacious. It's not really eye-catching but it will do. Breakfast is from 6AM-9AM and anytime after that, you could order anything. Housekeeping is very accomodating. I stayed in the executive suite and it was great for $80 or just over 4000 PHP. That's a great price. If you're looking for luxury, again, this isn't it. It's a simple, family-oriented, and very comfortable hotel. The prices are a little bit more pricey than the stores outside but only by a few PHP. Did I mention there's a massage parlor and deck pool on the top floor by the penthouse? It's great!
This is a great hotel to stay in. I've been staying here for the past few years now, every summer, and I'm always greeted by the same great staff, along with a couple of new friendly faces. If you get a chance, stay at this hotel. Why pay more than you have to when this hotel can provide it for you or nearest to the stores that can? The Renaissance was great too, but it's all luxury. The staff there was actually a lot more rude than the security guards at the Charter House. I was standing outside waiting for the bellstaff to deliver my luggage to my room and all they did was text. I had to yell both in Tagalog and in English to get what I wanted. Atleast at the Charter, you get everything you need, when you need it. You get what you pay for and let me tell you, it was well worth it.
