Marine Hotel, Llandudno

Before going to The Marine Hotel I had looked at the reviews on line and was very concerned that I had booked a problem holiday, as no good reviews had been aired. I know wonder if someone wanted to deter customers using this great hotel for some reason? We were extremely happy on arrival to find a lovely comfortable and clean hotel, lovely large well appointed bedrooms, and very helpful and pleasent staff. (On one occaision the barman who was working unaided on a busy lunchtime let the side down as he was unable to cope with the influx of orders for food and drinks. But Hey, who wouldn't be a little grouchy, especially when some of the 'guests' were downright rude and complaining unduly!) The entertainment provided by Sheila and husband John showed a genuine care for their audiences and got the best out of them. They worked very hard to provide a varied and entertaining afternoon and evening slot which encompassed all age groups. Yes there was an half hour of bingo, but believe me even that was a giggle and it cost only £1.20 for 3 games! The indoor pool was very warm and welcoming, a decent size although the shower facilities in the ladies was in need of attention. The food too was excellent. There were plenty of fresh vegetables served individually for each person to accompany their main meals. An extensive Cheese board and beautiful fresh fruit choice each evening. The waitresses and waiters worked swiftly and efficiently to provide good service to all. The hotel is in a good location and has many rooms in which guests can spread out. My only critisism would be that he bar prices for soft drinks were very steep. I had a lemon and lime which was served in a small wine glass that cost over a pound! My husband and I both late fiftees travelled to the hotel with my 84year old mother, and grandchildren aged eleven and fifteen. We all enjoyed the hotel facilities greatly and would definately return in the future and recommend it to friends and family. Dont let the kill joys who write the poor reviews influence you. Goodness only knows what they expect for their money. All in all it was very good value.
