Hilton Waco, Waco

I did not realize until check in that Hilton now has a smoking floor which I was placed on, when I questioned when was smoking allowed inside of the Hilton hotel, the response by Kimber was very rude and curt, she stated that it is a policy that all Hilton's have a smoking floor, and once I go into the room if it smells to bad, let her know and she will have someone come to spray the room. (of course this was the only room clean according to Kimber and we check in at 6am in the morning) The atmosphere was not great, people not very friendly the only person that really made you feel welcome was George in the breakfast area, internet service in the room never worked the whole time we were there, the service people who came to our room to fix the internet problem was very accomodating but explain to us because of the room the service will never connect in the room. Go Figure :(

I travel frequently for business and have stayed at this hotel several times. They are now nearing the end of a fantastic remodel. The new lobby, bar, and restaurant are beautiful. The remodeld rooms are fantastic. All new decor, carpeting, and huge comfortable beds. It's becoming a great hotel. The location can't be beat with some non-chain restaurants and bars within walking distance across the parking lot. I have stayed at the nearby Courtyard, Residence Inn, and Hampton Inn. You can get a better rate at those hotels, but this remodeled Hilton is now a really great experience. Those other hotels are just more of same boring hotels found all over.

First of all check in was very hectic! After standing and waiting for 30- 45 mins for a room to be cleaned? Mind you this was at 5:30 pm, check in is at 4:00. Once in the room the AC was not cooling. We informed the front desk and went to dinner thinking they would have the problem solved by the time we returned. It took several phone calls to the front desk @ 11:00 that night a person showed up only to have cool air with water leaking on the floor? I made 2 in house calls with no answer on the other end and was charged for using the phone? My credit card bill was charged the incorrect amount so I had to call. "Rosie" in accounting who was also the supervisor in charge helped me with the billing. She talked to me very rude and adrupt. She acted like I was the one at fault and was interupting her day! I called back to speak to someone else and he "Jerry Servance, GM" was on vacation and not expected to return until the following week. I left my check in date and name and number for him to return my call on his return. I still have not heard anything from anyone from the company. You pay for a five star quality and receive a motel six work ethic and attitude. Travel further to Austin not worth it!

Everyone I came in contact with was very helpful and friendly. I was especially impressed with Chef George who made the most delicious ommletes that I have ever eaten. He was not only a great cook, but such a friendly presence as I went to breakfast each morning
