A wonderful suprise!
My husband and I stayed there in March of this year. It was our one year anniversary and we decided to take a trip last minute. I booked this hotel and then began reading reviews and grew leary. I must say I was nicely suprised. Granted, the brick walls might be outdated to some, but I really liked the "retro feel". The room was very clean and if we needed something, it was brought to us promptly. The location, of course is wonderful. They seemed to be making renovations to the pool for the summer season as well.
I'm a smoker and didn't find the no smoking rules for the hotel too difficult for me. We often were gone most the day so me needing one in the room wasn't usually necessary. Plus, I think it's a perk for the non-smokers.
Make sure to get a parking pass, we didn't realize you had to have one until we saw signs.
If you want a fridge, it was only a $10 rental. We only got one for the customary wedding cake tradition. They hook it up for you and bring it as well.
There were few outlets, and in some odd places, but I didn't find this too much of a bother.
The reviews about the elevator were right though--- it's slow, slow, slow! But, the stairs worked just fine for us!
I'd stay here again! There were several people checking into the hotel that night because the flagship's AC and heat were down. Ours worked well. We'd get a little warm in the daytime and the AC kept us cool. And the nights in March were freezing, and the heat did just as good.
I'd recommend this to anyone, just don't expect a luxury hotel-- or you will be let down. If you want a convienient, clean, nice hotel this is perfect! The price was nice too!
