Island House Condominium, Corpus Christi

Loved everything about this place. Nice, new decor. Balcony overlooking water front. I can't say enough nice things about Island House. Our fridge went out a couple of days after we got there. Nice staff replaced it quickly. Felt the most like a home away from home. My whole family loved it and deemed it our "best vacation yet"!

Island House was relaxing and felt like home. The rooms all have kitchens that are stocked with utensils, plates, etc. It was so nice being able to walk a few feet and be on the beach. The pool was well maintained and they even had pool toys for the kids. I can't wait to stay in a different unit as each unit is uniquely decorated. Staff was friendly and helpful in recommending restaurants and places to see.

We stayed here over Valentines Day weekend 09' and will NEVER go back!! Our room was infested with cockroaches, crawling in the bathroom and kitchen!! Unfortunately we did not know this until our last night there. We left food on the counter, suitcases open, all that. There is even some sort of sonic bug repellent device plugged into an outlet near the kitchen. When I called to discuss this with the manager he got very hostile,denied they had a problem, and hung up on me. I have pictures to prove it and the manager still could care less. The condos also charged my Visa card incorrectly and refuse to fix it. They are unprofessional and I would NEVER reccommend anyone staying here. What a horrible experience all around.

I loved this Condominium!! We actually got lucky and got the directors suite, not much different from the regular rooms, but it was excellent! Great service! and friendly. I will always bring my business here to this place. Especially right off the beach, just a walk away. Love this place! I'm looking forward to next summer!

This was the third time I've stayed at Island House and this time I had my husband and two kids with me. I had fond memories from the previous times I visited as a teenager years ago with my Aunt and Uncle. The place was very run down this time. It was raining and the water would flood you even under the walkway because the drainage system needs to be fixed. My oldest daughter (7) slipped and fell, there was a huge waterfall right outside the unit from the rain not draining right it would soak you trying to get in the unit. They had orange cones around the pool with areas needing much repair. One good thing I will say is our daughter lost her goggles in the pool and couldn't find them and the next morning the person who cleaned the pool had laid them out for her, that was nice. The walkways were very dirty and nasty looking, plus they smell bad, it's carpet like material and soaked from the poor drainage. The cleaning staff was very rude to my Aunt who has been going there for 25+ years and you think would be a valued customer, she was called on the phone by the cleaning staff and treated very rude just for taking out the trash. We were there for a week and when we got there it was a very busy weekend so perhaps they were worn out but still shouldn't have been rude when my Aunt did nothing wrong. The other thing is my Uncle is very ill and requested a first floor unit and they were put in a second floor unit. He has a huge breathing machine and a walker and that was difficult for him. The staff did however move him to a first floor unit after the weekend crowd left. The second room they had had a nice bathroom but the first one was very outdated to say the least. It seems this place is more for older folks that can get around good and not so much for ones with little kids because the stairs are very hard to do going down to the beach and with the drop off over the wall that's scary. The elevators also smell and are extremly hot and small, very hard to fit in with your stuff. Even though I had a knee injury and could not bend my knee and was in a lot of pain I still chose to take the stairs and hobble up rather than take the stinky, hot, cramped elevator that's how bad it is. And one last thing the laundry room is not air conditioned so it is like a sweat lodge in there waiting for your clothes and they have a cat in there with a sign on the wall warning you from touching it, well with kids visiting the property then you shouldn't have an animal like that. I had to keep my two year old from touching it, which took all her will power to do. We won't be back. I'm very shocked at all the "good" reviews on this place. O one last thing the units are terribly small, there is no door to the master bedroom it's a sliding wall. Very very small. We had a 2 bed 2 bath beachfront unit. Prices are too high, you can get something much nicer in SPI on the beach for cheaper.

Love the location, it is a little bit of heaven on earth. I fell in love with this place years ago when I was here for a conference. Now, I come back every year during the summer. Every year I add on another day because I don't want to leave....

Great location and always have lots of fun!! The front staff was friendly and always willing to serve. The rooms were large clean and sandy. It really is a blast everytime we go!!!

As far as I concerned, this is the only place to stay on the island. Excellent. I'll be stay there again. This Spring will be my 4 th trip there. Always perfect.

We spent 3 days of our honeymoon at the Island House and really wished we could have stayed longer! Our room was ocean front and we had a balcony to enjoy the view... which was amazing! We watched dolphins jump in the ocean, right from our balcony! The room (214) was clean, bright and cheerfully decorated, and we had everything we needed (dishes and linens) and high speed internet access. The location is perfect... right next to Corpus Christi Bay, close to Port Aransas, and right on the beach! Folks were fishing and swimming in the surf... we caught a nice Snapper, a Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, sand trout and perch. This place was made for relaxing and having fun! Very family friendly, with a beautiful pool area (it was heated!). A very cozy feeling, like being at home... not fussy at all. You can grill outside We are definitely coming back!!
