Totally not worth the money!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/15/08
I stayed there for a conference. The conference rooms were very nicely set and made it very convenient for our meetings. I liked the hotel restaurants and the staff (most of them at least) were nice and courteous. But this is where all the good things about the hotel ended. The rooms were small. Bath room was very small with one sink. Bathroom doors were two half swinging doors (just like saloon doors), making it very uncomfortable to use it specially since I had a roommate . The TV was still the old bulky type. There was only a tiny closet, not even a luggage stand. Our room was overlooking the train tracks which were very noisy at night even though we were on higher floors. We basically did not go to bed until the last train had passed through. The heater was noisy and blowing cold air no matter how high the temperature was set. This hotel still charges for internet in the room with confusing and complicated terms. I ended up paying for $13+tax per day for internet even though I thought I bought $9 package but arguing with the hotel staff was useless. All and all, this hotel was not worth the money!

Old and Dated
By , 11/04/08
We stayed here for a couple of nights for the proximity to downtown and the JFK museum. This hotel is big and hosts many conventions and events. There was a line during our check-in, we had to wait. That was not a big deal but the front desk was in such a hurry to check everyone in that it felt very impersonal and more like we were in a conveyor line. Definitely not the same Hyatt we experienced elsewhere. The location was hard to find when driving by car because it is at the intersection of several major highways in downtown Dallas. You have to navigate through some off ramps and on ramps if you are getting off one of the highway exits. Luckily we had a Garmin GPS and that helped tremendously. This hotel is part of the Reunion Tower and Arena complex. It looks modern on the outside but the room's were a little dated circa the 1980's. It reminds me of the Hotel Pennsylvania in NYC. The bathroom was small, old manual thermostat, old clunky 27" TV, old carpeting, and the gym had old equipment w/o AC. We had a Priceline reservation, they might have given us a dated room but I have a feeling all the rooms are the same. There is a big parking lot on the premise of the hotel but they restrict it for valet parking only at an unreasonable price of $20/day. We saved money by parking a block away (albeit down a small incline) at Reunion Blvd West for $10/day or less if you park by the hour. It's called Ace Parking which is directly to the left of the hotel. There is an attendant there 24/7, no in/out access but you don't have to deal with the busy valet. We were there when they honored Ross Perot one night and the hotel was more crowded and the valet was a giant mess. It looked like midtown Manhattan gridlock, we were glad we did self-parking. The Reunion Tower and restaurant is closed until at least Dec 08 for renovations. If you get a good deal for this place, it's not bad because of the location but otherwise I would stay elsewhere. Pro's: Location (within walking distance to JFK museum and the West End area) Con's: Dated rooms Impersonal staff Old equipment at Gym Ripoff for Valet Hard to find by car without GPS

Don't bother - not worth it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/28/08
I recently stayed here for a bachelorette party and was really disappointed. The hotel looked nice enough, but I did not get my bang for my buck. We needed 1 room the first night and 2 rooms the second. The reservation (with details) was made weeks ahead of time and although there are a gazillion rooms, it was apparently too much to ask that we stay in the same room both nights with an ajoining the second. And the service was HORRIBLE at both the "sport bar" and breakfast. And to top it off a valet YELLED AT ME as we were trying to leave even though I was blocked in by another car. That place is overpriced, oversized, and overrated!

Great Value

We were there over the weekend attending a conference. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel was very busy and it was kept clean. Great service! Will stay there again when visiting the area.

Will never be "awed" again
By J-Lynn, 12/17/07
My husband and I spent our second wedding anniversery at the hyatt regency and the service was great from the time we stepped out of our vehicles. A combintion of great service(service people), enviroment, entertainment, convience, and location gave us the best stay ever. Each person acted as if it were thier priority to give us thier best treatment and they all succceded. It is definately a pampering you can get used to.

Comfortable Dallas Location
By Michelle, 06/26/07
The rooms were nice, the room service was fast and courteous. The hotel had great views and amenities. If you're interested in local history, the attached train station has a great walk through with information on famous visitors and the evolution of the landscape.

nice, very nize.
By Paul, 02/21/07
The hotel looks like it is right out of a year 2100 futuristic movie. It is truly an amazing building. You walk into the lobby and there in front of you is a huge waterfall, it must be several stories tall. In the lounge little rivers and channels of water flow through around the tables and sections and over to the waterfall. There is an emormous atrium that goes up to the top of the hotel with glass everywhere. The food was really good and you got a taste of Texas and a good variety as well. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well appointed. The staff was absolutely great. I was sick during my stay in Dallas and they took care of me just like I was their little kid. So some personal service from a huge hotel, that was really nice. I could look out my window and see the infamous grassy knoll. It is right next to the Reunion Arena so a very good location. You can walk like 10 minutes to a huge shopping mall. The pool is outside, and there is a hot tub, ok, but this is Texas and the heat just boiled both the pool and the "scald tub" So that was kind of a bummer. Not the best set up. I would say this was the only drawback. This place was a fun modern hotel right in the middle of it all. The tower is really awesome, what an incredible view of the city.
