So convenient and reasonably priced.
By ,
We stayed at the Crockett last year during a weekend visit. It was in the perfect location for a decent price. As we were only there for 2 nights, we were busy touring the city and weren't looking for many extras from the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. Bar was friendly and nice for a relaxing afternoon cocktail before dinner. River walk is just across the street. tours leave for trolly or carriage rides within the same block. It is literally across the street from the Alamo, we sat in the gardens of the alamo while we waited unitl it was time to leave for the airport. Even though we had checked out, the front desk held our luggage while we toured around. Wish we were going back again this year! sigh. we would stay at the Crockett again.

Fantastic! Location! Great Price!
By ,
I stumbled upon this hotel while looking for a hotel last night. I checked at several hotels in the area (Marriot, Embassy, La Quinta) and they were outrageously priced--$200 and above for mediocre rooms. I saw this hotel and stopped in just out of curiousity. The front desk attendant (Eduardo) was excellent. He was warm, welcoming, and helpful. The room rate was nearly half of surrounding hotels, yet the quality is just as excellent. It is clean, recently remodeled, located in a historic building, and right next to the Alamo and the Riverwalk! I would highly recommend!

terrible attitude!
By ,
I was in San Antonio on business and chose to stay at the Crockett Hotel because it was fairly priced, was in a great location, and looked to be a beautiful building. These aspects are all accurate, but the terrible attitude of the staff will be the one thing that stops me from going back. I did not feel like a guest, but a nuisance. They suggested I use their valet parking becuase it is more "convenient", but every time I asked that they pull my car up for me, not only would they seem extremely irritated by my request, but half the time there was not a valet attendant on duty and someone would have to be called to retrieve my car. Because I was not from around the area, I relied on the front desk to help point me in the right direction for restaurants, etc. They were not helpful at all and basically just threw a map in my direction. I will never again visit the Crockett Hotel.

Going back this summer
By ,
It was about 10 years ago that we stayed there and I don't remember a lot of specifics but we did enjoy our stay. The rooms were nice and I especially liked the jacuzzi on the roof top overlooking the streets below. We are planning a vacation for this summer and are going to stay there again.

The good the bad and the ugly
By ,
My wife and I were going to Boerne for our annual gathering with relatives on the Saturday, before Christmas. We decided to go the day before and stay in one of the many riverwalk hotels in San Antonio so we searched the internet. We decided on the Crockett Hotel but beware their web site is a bit misleading and the hotel is under renovations. The staff was very warm and inviting and we were given a corner room with a view into the Alamo's back yard. The toilet did not work correctly and the TV only would show two channels clearly. But we were close to the riverwalk and right across from the Alamo. On a scale from 1 to 10 for hotels I give this one a 5. Nice but next time we will stay at the Menger.

Nice hotel and it has been remodeled
By ,
within the last two years. Location, location and location. I have been here three times and enjoy my stay each and everytime. I usually stay here and attend the Alamo Bowl yearly. This hotel is a very good deal for the money.

Would use this hotel again in a minute!
By ,
We spent the night on July 22,2006. The reservation was made by someone else, but we were greeted and in our room in minutes. Our room was large and clean, including the bathroom. The next morning we ate the free breakfast and it was very good....coffee, 4 kinds of juice, several kinds of muffins and danish, fresh fruit, and yogurt. I wanted to write this good report to sort of let another opinion in. Of course it is old and needs repair. That has to be taken in to account when you go, but for us it was part of the reason we liked it.

Only Out of Desperation
By ,
San Antonio is a lovely city with much to do and many places to stay. But, only out of desperation should you stay at The Historic Crockett (a.k.a The Crock). I reserved a room with two beds and got a room with only one. The staff pretty much implied that I take it or leave it. I could tolerate the small room but the bathroom floor was filthy. The pool will be a nice area as soon as the stench from the "renovation in progress" is over. The elevators are a joke...right out of Candid Camera. There was no coffee at the continental breakfast. I don't know what Davy Crockett's ass smelled like but I'm thinking Room 316 might be real close.

Will not go back
By ,
I will not stay at the Crockett Hotel again. The rooms were small, the beds uncomfortable and the room keys did not work the elevator or room door properly. It took many attempts to get the elevator to operate and the door to open to our room. The pool had no lights in or around the area which I feel made is unsafe for a woman and child to swim. When I asked the front desk about the pool I was told the building was under renovation and therefore no lights. For safety, the pool should have been closed!! The nice thing about the hotel was its location to the Alamo, riverwalk and Rivercenter mall.

You can do better in San Antonio!
By ,
I am not a hard to please person... but this place was not worth the $100 per day that was listed as a group rate. Don"t know WHAT you would get for the posted $59 per nite... perhaps the gutted wing of rooms around the pool... the pool was clean but the whirlpool did not work. The landscaping needed major work. The ice machines had no ice on any of the floors. No restaurant... small rooms, hardly adequate A/C. Lobby area and halls had a funky sort of smell. I have been in better places for considerably less money. The only good thing to say about the place is that it is conveniently located by the Alamo and the Riverwalk.
