Alpine Lodge & Suites, Cookeville

I've stayed here a couple times in the past and always had wonderful service. Until a couple of weeks ago. I stayed one night, just passing through, and the girl at the desk was terrible! She didn't smile, didn't welcome me, didn't even ask what she could do for me. She just looked at me like I was bothering her and waited for me to say something. I was also standing at the counter for a while waiting on someone to come help me. An alarm goes off when someone walks in so she knew I was there! I could see her through the crack in the door, she was on the computer- Myspace of all places! So I said excuse me and asked if anyone was in there. It STILL took her a little bit to come out! I got checked in and she didn't even wait until I was putting my wallet back into my purse or turned from the counter before she went back into the room and got on the computer again! AWFUL PERSONALITY!!! AND TERRIBLE SERVICE FROM THIS GIRL!!! I sure hope the owner has fired her! Everyone else that I've encountered there in the past has been wonderful! The owners are a nice German couple and completely endearing. They just hired one BAD and unmotivated employee. On a better note: The pool area is wonderful. I've stayed in the early fall before and it's just gorgeous! There are cute gazebos and floral vines everywhere. It is an older hotel, but it is very well kept and they had gotten new beds since my last visit. There is fresh fruit for breakfast and the morning staff is EXCELLENT. I completely forgot about the horrid girl working the previous night because the employees in the morning were so friendly! I will definitely stay here again (can't beat the price and excellent location), I just hope that girl is nowhere to be found! If you guys see her, beware! She has shorter brown hair, very plain looking, and is of a chunky build. Just go to the Winona Motel (right down the road) if you see her!

Great price, wonderful service. Close to everything. Try to stay here everytime I am in the area (within an hour drive). Great family atmosphere. Good internet service. great night sleep.

This was a very clean, older motel set on a hill, with an uphill climb from the parking lot (it has a wheelchair ramp, but it's still uphill). Typical cereal/pastry/juice breakfast. My only complaint is that the DSL in my room didn’t ever work, and I really needed to get online. The manager came to my room and also tried, unsuccessfully (computer problem), but no other DSL hookup location was offered as a substitute.

For $20 more stay somewhere else!! The hotel is not clean, beds are like sleeping on bricks and the staff is RUDE!!! Just a suggestion Country Inn & Suites on highway 42. Don't waste your time or money!!!!
