Definitely make a return trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/11
Our visit was on the Thursday and Friday prior to the 4th of July weekend. We stayed in one of the train cars and found it to be an exceptional experience. Accommodations were attractive, clean. Plenty of linens in the bathroom and plenty of hot water for a shower or bath. People at the reception desk both on check-in and check-out were gracious and helpful. In fact, we arrived in Chattanooga several hours before check-in time at 3:00, but our accommodations were already available and we were allowed to check in early, which meant we could get settled in and have a whole afternoon to spend exploring the Tennessee Aquarium. Dinner that night was on the Choo-Choo grounds in one of the restaurants. The entertainment was exceptional and the food was excellent. We would recommend the Choo-Choo to friends or family and look forward to returning ourselves in the future. It was an overall positive, excellent experience.

LOVED IT!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/11
I stayed here during Memorial Day weekend, and I loved my stay there. The front lobby is breathtaking.....absolutely beautiful! The service was wonderful....all the employees were really nice and helpful. The shops and restaurants are also really nice. I stayed in a standard room, not the train car, and it was a basic hotel room. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. The only drawback to the room, for me, was that there wasn't a small refigerator. I like to bring my own water and drinks. I loved that the hotel is right next to a shuttle stop, so we had to do very little driving. I felt very sale during my stay, and never had a problem. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

DONT STAY THERE!!! JUST VISIT!!!
By toodles, 3/30/11
My husband and I did not stay there. We decided to just visit the site and look around. We walked into the Hotel and instantly a smell of old must hit us! Then we walked into the dinning area and saw a worker setting up the buffet. He was dumping in the 'food' that looked like mush and meat. The salad was green...and BROWN!! It looked and smelled disgusting! There is paint chipping EVERY WERE!!! The smell is EVERY WERE! I peeked in at the gift shop and the coffee/snack shop next to it...NOT IMPRESSED! We continued on outside for the trains. And they were cute. The garden right out back was well kept and actually I really like it. We walked around to the other stores and restaurants and bars....really really really not impressed at all. On inspection of the train rooms I noticed mold growing on all of them. I peeked into on of the windows and the interior looked like it hadn't been updated in at least 35 years...not just updated...I dont think its been CHANGED!!! I could even smell the must from the window. I was not at all impressed! I felt more disgusted. There was a convention going on and we walked inside (this was still in the main hotel...they have a separate convention building on the property too) to use the restroom and I had to walk back out. The smell of mold and must was unbearable. We decided to leave at that point. As we drove away both my husband and I were greatly disappointed. I must say here in Nashville we have the beautiful Union Station. Years ago it was in RUFF shape and it took people who cared about the history to restore it and since then do another remodel and now its BREATHTAKING!!! I think that the Chattanooga Choo Choo has GREAT potential. It needs someone like the Union Station had to come in and show it some love. Until then...I will not stay there nor will I recommend it to ANYONE! Go see the trains...and then leave. I wouldn't even eat there if I were you.

DON'T STAY AT THE CHOO-CHOO!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/11
Paid $200 per night for the "special" stay in the rail car hotel room. The room would qualify for a $49.00 per night equal at a LaQuinta or other 2 star hotel. BRING YOUR OWN BLANKETS OR FREEZE TO DEATH!!! woke up at 3 a.m, heat thermostat was set on 80. must have been 60 degrees in the room. outside temp was 38 degrees. had an 11 month old and 4 year old (the whole reason for the trip!), didn't want to wake them so i got blankets out of the car and bundled up. went to see manager, said i should have called and they would have sent a service tech or arranged to move us. Really? at 3 in the morning!?? give me a break. then the shower head was busted. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! NO APOLOGY, NO COMP, NOTHING. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE WHEN VISITING AND ENJOY THE TRAIN AND OTHER AMENITIES AT THE SITE. ! I WILL REVISIT CHATTANOOGA AS IT'S A GREAT CITY, BUT NEVER EVER STAY AT THE CHOO CHOO AGAIN...

Awful Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/11
During the snow and ice, we could not travel to Chattanooga. They would not refund our money even though we were traveling from Georgia and the roads were unsafe to get there. The manager was rude and could not care less if we would jeopardize our family driving there. They would not waive their 4 day cancellation policy even in these circumstances!!! Will never recommend this hotel. We come to Chattanooga often for various sporting events and enjoy the town. Will NEVER stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo again!!!
