Great indoor pool area but that is about it...
By Disappointed, 01/17/10
My husband and I were staying at another hotel about 3 buildings down and were not happy with the room or pool area so we decided to try another location for our last night in town. We booked the king executive suite. First, there is no place in the bathroom to put anything, not even soap and the shower curtain was so large that you actually stood on it. The bed (if you can call it that) was as hard as a desktop. We would never have been able to sleep on it another night. The room was clean but dated. The loveseat was odd, it pushed in when you sat on it then popped back out when you got up. Let me say that the pool area was great, we really enjoyed the lazy river and the hot tubs. Also the staff members were very nice, no complaints there and there is free wi-fi in the rooms. We own our a small business where we live and one of the services offered is to help clients w/party planning or trip/reunion planning or ideas so that is one reason we were visiting. I am certain that I will not recommend this location to anyone. Again, the pool area and staff were great but that does not help with the rooms and their lack of comfort.

You get what you pay for...
By ammie, 01/03/10
I always wanted to visit Myrtle Beach so my boyfriend booked two nights at the Landmark for my birthday. We had always heard to stay in North Myrtle if you wanted a quaint, quiet and peaceful trip. The price was unbelievable at the Landmark, so we decided to give it a try... First off, the resort was short luggage carts so we spent about 45 minutes in front of the place waiting for one. The elevated walkway from the parking deck was nice, instead of trying to cross the busy road. The lobby area was nice, but we stood in a mile long line to get service. One of our door keys did not work properly so I had to battle the rundown elevator and get a new one. Everytime you wanted to go down to the first floor, the wait for an elevator was horrible. The place is 15 stories high, they only have 2 elevators. We were offered an upgrade on a room, I am so glad the we accepted. Intially, we were supposed to be in a room on the inside (center) of the hotel. After exploring, I am so glad we opted for a beach front room! My boyfriend found a cherry stem on the bathroom floor, it sat there for the next day until we threw it away. Did they clean the bathroom? For If you want to go out to dinner, you will be forced to drive to a decent restaurant.dinner A man working in the lobby information center recommended an oyster bar within walking distance of the hotel. If you want to go out to dinner, you will be forced to drive to a decent nearby restaurant. When we were walking through the parking lot of the oyster bar, my boyfriend almost stepped in a pile of human feces. We notified the waiter in the restaurant. He replied, "This is Myrtle Beach, what do you expect?" Nice, classy. The lazy river was actually a pool turned into a circular path with a cement landing in the middle. I ventured to the bottom floor of the hotel to the indoor waterpark. Even though we did not use it, I would not have let any child set foot in the place, dim lights, rundown. All in all, we totally received what we paid for!

Wont stay again
By Unhappy 09, 10/26/09
Where do i start romance vacation gone bad i room was assigned on the 4th floor hall lighting was very poor, requested room change. Our second room the kitchen sinks pipes were exposed, the carpet was stink and dirty, and there were stains on the bathroom sink, and the walls were dirty. To make matters worst my cell phone was stolen at the outdoor swimming pool and security was of little help basically they didnt care. On our last day check out day at about 9 o clock we get one knock on the door and then walks in housekeeping... were is the privacy uhhhhh check out is at 11 o clock. The internet image are basically false advertisement. I would not recommend this hotel to other my romantic vacation was very depressing.

another visit?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/09
I'd stayed at the landmark in past had oceanfront suite each time was nice and clean. but my most recent visit the room was really aged and had old carpet on floor. the place looked deplorable I went and complained to front desk and was given another room on another floor this one slightly better. the kitchen plates were of assorted types with no matching pieces. the tv in bedroom had real bad reception and deplorable remotes. I notified front desk andassistance came while I was in pool area but no fix to tv reception. This is first time I had viewed young people in hot tubs with open containers of Beer and small coolers nearby. I also witnessed one person stagger and stumble and landing on lounge chair and he was obviously intoxicated. This place has really went Down in appearance and allowing drinking openly. I never saw any security during the day time.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/09
we just got back from staying at the Landmark and I must say we were disappointed in the Hotel....It was a little run down and beat up.....When we first checked in the first room was really beat up,,,so i went down and told them that I wasnt happy with the room and they did put us in another room which was a liitle better.........the new pool that they added across the street was very nice and my 2 y.o and 5 y.o enjoyed it alot...but the Hotel has seen better days.......the staff was really nice but the cleanliness of the hotel could be alot better....lets just say we were looking at other hotels to stay at for next year...we also thought the Hotel wasnt located in the best part of Myrtle....it was cheap...and as the saying goes you only get what you pay for...........

Enjoyed our stay
By Fancy, 09/01/09
I am applaud at how people giving reviews will blame the hotel for what the pizza places do and scam them. I am amazed that people will judge the hillbillies and less educated that stay at these hotels. I am amazed at how people say thisis a disgusting hotel. I stayed there in sept of 2007 and had a pleasant time. The complaints of sand in elevators is funny bc since it is right on the beach and we have to get to our rooms from the beach in the elevators what do you expect.I will say our carpet wasnt exactly the cleanest but everything else was ok. When people post reviews they are more harsh that the rooms really are from my experience.when leaving a review ,why do people blame the hotel for what the people in next room does or the bird who pooped on their sandwich...lol...lets be real and to the point when we review, please.

The Place Should Be Condemned
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/09
This place should not be in business. As soon as we pulled up we knew it was going to be a dump and that the brochure and website pictures were misleading. Everything here is either not working properly or not working at all. All the hallways are filthy and in need of a renovation. The room was filthy also and in need of a renovation which is what the website said had happened. An obvious lie. The refrigerator was broken, the toilet handle was falling out and not working, and the tub drain was not working properly. All the walls and carpet are filthy dirty and so outdated. I will save my fingers from typing and your eyes from reading more and just say filthy, dirty, disgusting place that I do not know how is still operating to today's health standards. The in room A/C units have filth and mold growing in them. I almost forgot about the exterminator who came to spray while my 2 year old was sleeping. They say they come once a month whether the room is occupied or not. The maid service was also awful and they did not come for 2 days in a row. Save your money and stay elsewhere. The only good part was the beachfront view.

Pleasantly Surprised
By C, 08/24/09
I have come to except the fact, that no matter which motel you stay at in Mrytle Beach, you're going to have to deal with someone that just crawled out of the hood or the hills. The kind of people that have no respect for anything or anyone. I thought that the Landmark employees did a great job picking up after & keeping these people in line....Now, onto the motel. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of not just the room, but also the hallway, stairs, around the pools & even the parking garage was very clean. I also witnessed the pool areas being cleaned & organized daily. They have an employee handing out towels in the pool area to prevent kids from using them all up. I can NOT begin to tell you how helpful the bridge over the 4 lane can be!!!!! That alone, is reason to stay with Landmark. Very Pleased with our stay!

Always Pleased with Visits!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/09
I have been vacationing at the Landmark for 10 years and have never had a problem. It is a great resprt for the price. The recent remodel is beautiful. Before the remodel I did notice the aging of the rooms and being outdated but the pool complex is the best on Ocean Blvd. And now with the addition of the water park across the street it's even better. If I had to point out a problem it would be the large indoor pool. Sometimes the heater is broke and the pool is freezing but other than that...Love It!!! Will continue to vacation at the Landmark.
