Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort, Myrtle Beach

This was our first time in Myrtle Beach. My Brother/Sister in law went there prior and had good things to say. We stayed (I believe) in the Pinnacle Oceanfront End Suite. I think it was on the 8th floor. The rooms were OK. It had pretty much a full kitchen. The bathroom and kitchen was small. You walked right into the bedroom as well. Seemed kind of out dated, but all in all it was fine. I did not pay really to sit in the room all day/night. On a 1-10 I would call the room a 6 or 7 (I have stayed at very nice Westin's and at the MGM in Vegas where you could stay in bed all day, therefore if you think a 6 or 7 is low, that is what I am comparing it to). The location was good. Kind of far down on the beach from some of the shops, but that was not an issue. There was tons to do and we tried to hit a little bit of everything. But more about the hotel.... The pools were great. Oh yeah, I went with my wife's side of the family. So we had 7 adults and 6 kids. Only 3 stayed in the room I mentioned above. They had an indoor and outdoor lazy river that my 10 year old loved. They had 2 small slides as well. I loved the outside bar and the drinks they served in little beach buckets. Pools and slides and everything was clean. No problem checking in or out, no issues with parking either. All in all, a great little place. We are going back in 2012 and staying in the Pinnacle Oceanfront 2 bedroom Penthouse. It is going to cost about $500 extra, from last time, but someone we were with last time stayed in one and we really liked it, so we decided to splurge a little more, seeing there is only 3 of us! I gave it all 4's because it is not meant as a high priced hotel, but definitely a solid choice!

I enjoyed every m oment we spent at Compass Cove! My husband and I, my son and daughter in-law, and 3 grands just decided to head down to the beach for the weekend! My son and daughter in-law handled the reservations and down south we headed. My only dislike was the bathroom wasnt big enough and and there was not a T.V. in one of the bedrooms. But overall, we were well pleased with our family getaway for the weekend. I highly recommend it.

I was tempted to write a terrible review because my wife and I want Compass Cove all to ourselves. We have nothing but good things to say about our experience. The staff was incredible. Starting with the lady who accepted our reservations on the phone and helped us get the best rate to the front desk and maintenance people, every one was friendly and so helpful. We wanted to be able to sleep late and usually a "Do Not Disturb" sign means there will be no cleaning that day, but that was not the case here. We didn't leave the room most days until after noon, but when we came back the room was spotless. The room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The mini kitchen with full size appliances was wonderful. The pools, hot tubs, and lazy river were incredible, very accessible, clean, and well maintained. The beach area was beautiful and easy to get to and from. I can imagine that during the summer this place is probably packed. However, we were able to go during a time of year that crowds were not a problem. We can't wait to go back. Next time, we might even take our kids.......NOT!

…thank you “compass cove “… for ruining my family’s vacation.. leaving me a giant roach on the ceiling, a filthy bathroom complete with used dental floss hanging from the walls, a college dorm room fridge, no HBO, no WI-FI , and best of all an open room when we returned from the pool , where with the door still ajar , it was obvious our luggage had been searched. all this for 575 for 3 nights. For the ocean side suite. That was supposed to have 3 beds. !!!! the water pressure was so low i could not even rinse my hair..!!! The motel was full and no other options were available 2 beds and 5 people with 2 of these being our D 1 wrestling sons both well over 250…do not waste your money or your time on this…excuse for an motel.. on the bright side OUR SON saved a young man from drowning ..Thank god for his quick thinking and strong swimming skills…some how sorry just did not work for me .... do not make our mistake !!!!!!

liked everything,2nd time there and will certainly return and recommend this place,dislikes-none,great and friendly staff everything was #1. also want to give a shout out to miriam at the pool and eve's at the crowes nest,great entertainment!

we loved everything about it,it was clean, my son had lots of fun and so did we. we stay at the pinnacle building great view and very clean. love the pools and the parking. We are planning to go back before the year ends.

HORRIBLE (2010)!! They would NOT clean their pools! They only vacuumed them once a day and that was it!! They NEVER SKIMMED them EVER! We sat on our balcony daily and watched the crew "clean" them. We could see from our 4th floor room, and they vacuumed, but never skimmed the water. We LITERALLY could see from our balcony CLUMPS of hair and trash floating and they NEVER cleaned it!!! So, even starting at 9:00 am you get into a filthy pool. I complained and they still never cleaned it. Went back hours later to complain again. This went on the entire week..lazy river was SO DIRTY my 7 yr old would not get in one day..AND there were hair weave giant pieces floating in the water in outdoor and indoor pool. Also, hair clumps from normal hair and weaves on cement by the pool edge. They are NASTY people. Like they can't see this stuff like we can. LAZY, NASTY staff. Trash floats in the water as well. Balcony railing separted and we had kids, and it still took 24 hours to fix after THREE phone calls from us. The outside floors and steps are dirty and nver cleaned! We saw the same onion ring on the stairs and gum for the entire week we stayed!! NO JOKE, except for the hotle. The game room is broken mostly so don't plan on the kids going in there. Year after year they are still broken. We learned our lesson. HORRIBLE waste of your money. Great area w/lots of other hotels to choose from...we will choose another. All I can say to you is seriously....NASTY NASTY NASTY PLACE...you will not want to swim there especially...seriously, wish someone had warned us before we spent our money there. Infact, we demended a refund for some of our stay. Yes, it was THAT bad!

i have a little one that just crawls so i thought the floors in the room could be a little cleaner. very outdated. when we pulled up to check in i thought this is going to be bad.first impression was bad, indoor pool look old and rundown. was disapointed did not look like pictures on internet. don't get a room close to the restraunt crows nest, our balcony was right above a we couldn't enjoy it because of noise and cig smoke. we did complain and they moved us and up graded our room. i would stay there again but i am looking in to other resorts. friendly staff just wasn't what i thought it was going to be. try to bring your own drinks, food,etc the gift shop will stuck u dry.

This was our second time staying at Compass Cove and we will go back next year. We had a suite in the Pinnacle tower with a great view. There is so much to do there, even if the weather is bad. Our kids especially love all the pools and there are always towels available at the pools. Our cleaning person kept forgetting to leave toilet paper, but when my husband called the front desk, someone brought some up to us within minutes. Staff was friendly too. We definately recommend this place.

Much better on the outside then on the inside!The rooms are very small! I asked for a crib when booking, and again when arriving at the front desk...guess what...no crib! I called it in and told them no crib and that I need to leave to go get dinner, they said it was no problem that the crib will be set up for me even though we weren't going to be there, when we got back the crib was not set up. It was sitting outside the door. Go-figure why they didn't set it up, because the rooms are too small and the crib would not fit in anywhere around the two beds. We got a Suite, so my little one had to sleep in the living room separate from the bedroom. The indoor kiddie pool for kids was very cold! We went in winter time so that was really "nice" NOT to be able to use an indoor pool because it had freezing water. The jacuzzi's(like 4 of them) and the big pool was really nice, indoor lazy river was nice and warm too but very narrow. The door was locked and the maid walked in on me without a knock with her own key card which was "great", good thing I was fully dressed and was watching tv., but she did say sorry and walked right back out. The free breakfast was really really nice and it was included in the price(check if they still have the special if booking)! The internet was free, but worked very badly! Since we run our business mostly online this was a huge inconvenience! We called the front desk once, they said they will reset the router for us and to log back in a few minutes to see if it will work, then we called again a couple hours later to tell them it's not working again and they said that maintenance was not there today and that there was nothing else they could do(if they would have been, I'm guessing the router would need to be reset)! The bathroom and shower in the room was clean except the floors, they were not cleaned or vacuumed in the Suite at all. The view was great, the balcony nice but the small table and chairs were dirty. The remote did not work at all in the bedroom, so every time we wanted to change the channel we had to get up to do it manually. The kitchen cabinets are very outdated, to the point that they don't fully close all the way. We had a stain/mold on the ceiling in our bedroom. The room smelled funny but it wasn't too bad. The furniture in the living room needed to be completely replaced, old couch and the tv stand had about a 5 inch corner that completely broke off at one point and someone "fixed" it with a hammer and nails. The beds were very nice, comfy and clean! The layout of the room was very odd. The service was great and everyone was nice but it seemed like they didn't handle situations very well. Sometimes being nice is just not enough! Location was good but, was a little ways from the shops on the strip since the hotel is located on the far South end of the strip. We didn't have a miserable time but, we will never come here again.
