Would not recommend!
By Lana, 02/09/10
Much better on the outside then on the inside! The rooms are very small! I asked for a crib when booking, and again when arriving at the front desk...guess what...no crib! I called it in and told them no crib and that I need to leave to go get dinner, they said it was no problem that the crib will be set up for me even though we weren't going to be there, when we got back the crib was not set up. It was sitting outside the door. Go-figure why they didn't set it up, because the rooms are too small and the crib would not fit in anywhere around the two beds. We got a Suite, so my little one had to sleep in the living room separate from the bedroom. The indoor kiddie pool for kids was very cold! We went in winter time so that was really "nice" NOT to be able to use an indoor pool because it had freezing water. The jacuzzi's(like 4 of them) and the big pool was really nice, indoor lazy river was nice and warm too but very narrow. The door was locked and the maid walked in on me without a knock with her own key card which was "great", good thing I was fully dressed and was watching tv., but she did say sorry and walked right back out. The free breakfast was really really nice and it was included in the price(check if they still have the special if booking)! The internet was free, but worked very badly! Since we run our business mostly online this was a huge inconvenience! We called the front desk once, they said they will reset the router for us and to log back in a few minutes to see if it will work, then we called again a couple hours later to tell them it's not working again and they said that maintenance was not there today and that there was nothing else they could do(if they would have been, I'm guessing the router would need to be reset)! The bathroom and shower in the room was clean except the floors, they were not cleaned or vacuumed in the Suite at all. The view was great, the balcony nice but the small table and chairs were dirty. The remote did not work at all in the bedroom, so every time we wanted to change the channel we had to get up to do it manually. The kitchen cabinets are very outdated, to the point that they don't fully close all the way. We had a stain/mold on the ceiling in our bedroom. The room smelled funny but it wasn't too bad. The furniture in the living room needed to be completely replaced, old couch and the tv stand had about a 5 inch corner that completely broke off at one point and someone "fixed" it with a hammer and nails. The beds were very nice, comfy and clean! The layout of the room was very odd. The service was great and everyone was nice but it seemed like they didn't handle situations very well. Sometimes being nice is just not enough! Location was good but, was a little ways from the shops on the strip since the hotel is located on the far South end of the strip. We didn't have a miserable time but, we will never come here again.

TWO THUMBS UP …………… SERIOUSLY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/05/09
I have spent a few minutes reading different comments or reviews, either pro or con. I have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach since 1972 as a young child. I then visited MB as a teenager or/and young adult and now as a parent myself. I also have stayed at different motels, hotels or now they call themselves resorts. I can honestly tell you that I have never had a bad time where ever I stayed. This is still my favorite place to stay, the Compass Cove; prior to the name change to the Compass Cove it was called the Swamp Fox. This place gone has gone through a number of renovations over the years and has also changed ownership a few times. All the resorts along the Grand Strand have the same issues if you read their reviews from other resorts. I also have heard and read that the location of the Compass Cove is in the heart of what they call “Ghetto” or “Arm Pit” of Myrtle Beach again not sure where this is coming from TRUTHFULLY. I have never heard of this before until this year. I have stayed like I mentioned before at a small “Mom and Pop” motel on the strip and that was not too bad I would say 7 out of 10. I also stayed near the Pavilion in a high rise building very nice place if you enough taking an elevator up and down the whole vacation I don’t but the place was very nice 8 out 10. Now for the Compass Cove I have to give it a 10 out of 10 now remember each place is not only catering you and I but to each vacationer staying here or anywhere else. I recommend the Compass Cove to anyone, why. I had a friend email during the summer asking where is a good place to stay in MB?. I didn’t mention the Compass Cove for this reason, just because I like there doesn’t mean he, you or anyone else would either. So I picked a number of other spots for him and his family. He spent 2 weeks in Myrtle beach one week in the north end and the 2nd week in the south. Now remember I never mentioned Compass Cove once, he called me upon his return home and said “He wished he had found this place the first week”, “I would definitely go there again”. Ok, I give up where did you stay ….. just down the road from this great resort we found to bad we had already check-in else where but we spent all our time there anyway. The place is called the COMPASS COVE. End of story don’t read any other reviews, this place is wonderful.

DON'T GO THERE
By debbie, 10/01/09
We had a man crawl into our room to steal from us and when we contacted the front desk at midnight: 'WE'RE SORRY. WE CAN MOVE YOU TO AN UPPER FLOOR TOMORROW (3PM IS WHEN THE ROOM WAS AVAILABLE). They said they would call the police - THEY DIDN'T. Not acceptable. WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THE MOST OF THE EMPLOYEES WERE THE BOMB.

Great Family Vacation
By John, 08/27/09
This was our second time to Compass Cove and we didn't think after the first time that it could be better. Boy were we wrong. Check in was smooth, room was very nice, and we love the Compass Rose for breakfast. Pools are great, and very clean. I have never stayed at a place where they stock the pool towels so you usually never go without. Really a nice family place on the beach for a great value. Will stay there again.

What a great vacation!!!
By arleen, 08/21/09
I would recommend Compass Cove to everyone especially if they have kids. I had my 7 grandkids (8-15) . The water features were great for all ages even grandma. The staff was efficient. Definitely a place to go for fun and enjoyment..

A great vacation spot for us!
By , 08/09/09
My husband and I have been to MB a number of times and this was our first stay at Compass Cove. We thought that it was the best place that we have stayed at. The many pool options were great with the kids, the check-in staff were polite, friendly and helpful. I cannot complain about the room in any way-was exactly as described. We even requested a first room floor upon arrival and our request was accomodated without any problems. I would recommend staying here. Thought it was a great price for a great place and plan on returning next year!

WE WILL NEVER NEVER EVER GO BACK !!!!!!!
By TERESA, 08/02/09
IT WAS BY FAR THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED THE POOL WAS TAKEN OVER BY A BUNCH OF DRUNKS THE WEEK WE STAYED. WE HAD TO LISTEN TO THEIR LOUD MUSIC UP UNTIL 12:00 EVERY NIGHT. AND I EVEN GOT TO SEE A FULL MOON WHEN ONE OF THE DRUNKS EXSPOSED HIS BUTT TO SOMEONE ON THE FLOOR ABOVE ME. THEY ALLOWED OPEN BEER AND MIXED DRINKS IN THE POOL BEDS WERE TERRIBLE AND ROOMS WERE WAY TO SMALL. THIS WAS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO STAY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN. I DONT HAVE ANY THING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THIS HOTEL AT ALL.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Compass Cove. We had an oceanfront view that was amazing, and the efficiency we stayed in was really nice. This place has 22 pools! I can't wait to go back
