Beds are AWFUL! Slept on the box spring instead!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/09
The bed was SO bad - I picked up the chintzy mattress and set it against the wall. Took the mattress cover and placed that on the box spring - took the coverlet from the other bed and placed that on the box spring - and slept on the box spring. My husband ended up sleeping on the couch! Absolutely the WORST beds I have ever experienced! Housekeeping removed the mattress from the room the next day! If you have ANY back issues - I wouldn't stay here. My mother also stayed and had a King size bed - SAME problem. By the end of the four nights she was experiencing back/hip pain. Service was exceptional!! Very friendly and helpful!! Especially the lobby 'roamer', the parking lot attendants, restaurant, and housekeeping. The view was also very nice.

paradise lost
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/08
i must say that my husband & I were really disappointed with this supposedly resort! the room was extremely small, with a "resort" view of the parking lot.I have never stayed in a hotel that did not have a bath tub! everything is so over priced, from the bar to room service. before visiting HHI, get a map and familiarize yourself with the island, otherwise you will become very frustrated while getting lost leaving the resort. on one positive note, all of the hotel employees were very nice and helpful! for us, we found our entire HHI experience disappointing!

Excellent Trip
By MyeshaB, 08/15/07
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel. It was beautiful. Even though I had to work there was plenty of time for the beach, shopping, eating and drinks. The beds were comfy, food was scrumptous, and service was great. The people were very vice and helpful, always willing to help. This is a must place to go.

Overpriced
By AlysiaB, 04/15/07
The view from our oceanfront room was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our time at the pool. The service that we received at the front desk was very friendly. And the beds...they were heavenly! However, I guess I was expecting a cleaner place for what we paid for the room. Our balcony was dirty and it was quite obvious that it hadn't been cleaned for awhile. There was used athletic tape on it, cigarette butts and dead insects everywhere. Also, the hot tub outside was a strange shade of greenish-yellow. Ew... All in all, I think it was overpriced!

no outdoor pool last week
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/26/07
I was a guest at the Mariott last week-3-19-3-23 when I checked in the upgraded me to an oceanfront room--without the explaining why........because their outdoor pool was under construction for the week.each morning the workers started at 8am banging and hammering outside..there are also many many rooms under construction.I was on the fourth floor and it appeared the entire end of my floor and the third floor were being renovated. It was also interesting to talk to the other guests to see how the hotel"made up for the deficiencies" not very even. I must say it will be a long time before Mariott gets my business--at HH or elsewhere

This was a pretty average hotel..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/06
Ater a long day of traveling my family and I had finally reached this resort and were deffinatly ready for a relaxing evening. We had to connecting rooms and we were all looking forward to relaxing in the bathtub. To our dismay we only found that one of these two rooms had a bathtub. No hotel that we had ever stayed at had only had a showerr and this was deffinatly an unpleasant suprise to us. Upon talking to the manager, who finally helped us find to rooms with bathtubs the NEXT day, we also learned that unlike the website states that the whole hotel was not recently renevated. Only the south tower of the hotel had been renevated, which was very misleading to us as i sure it had been to many other people. Other than that we had a great stay here. The beds were fabulous and if your looking for an outstanding ocean view, the ocean front room is gorgeous. THe beach was also very well kept, but it took a little while to get past the let down of the whole bathtub incident and the false information the website had provided to us. But the staff at this resort was great, especially the conceirers, everyone was always friendly and very willing to help.

A wonderful experience...
By Michelle, 04/13/06
My husband and I just returned from 3 nights at the Marriot Beach and Golf Resort on Hilton Head. I had pricelined the room so I did not expect to be upgraded. However, we were upgraded to a King Suite. How exciting for us! The bed was amazing... We had a blast during our stay - eating breakfast at their restaurant buffet (yummy fresh fruit), ordering drinks from the poolside bar and relaxing on the beach. The staff was extremely friendly and gave lots of great recommendations for things to do/see. They even let us have late check out (1:00). I would highly recommend this resort to couples and families!

A must see!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/06
The food and rooms were fabulous but my buddies and I really enjoyed the poolside servers. The hottest ladies on the island by far. Guys, if you're coming for a golf weekend this hotel (and it's staff) are a must see!

We'd definitely come back,
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/05/05
Our family was very pleasantly surprised during our Easter break stay at this Marriott. We would definitely go back. Despite some very bad weather (tornado warnings, downpours), we had a very good time, thanks in large part to the hotel's resourcefulness in keeping the kids busy. For two days during our stay, the hotel staff transformed a ballroom into a big game hall complete with mini-golf putting greens, X-box machines and games, and popcorn machines and movies, etc. The hotel was clean and the oceanview room had a spectacular view. Two things: You must get to the pool early (by 8:30 a.m.) to reserve a prime pool-side spot. If you plan to eat dinner at the hotel, make reservations in advance. The dining room was extremely crowded on the Friday and Saturday during our stay - perhaps because of people not wanting to venture into the bad weather.
