The Plaza Hotel On Carowinds, Fort Mill

Nasty and host illegal activities. Unsupervised teenage girls hang out in this establishment. Employers look as if they are just off the streets.

I went to a retirement party here in the room beside the pool, the carpet was dirty and stained but it was OK. The WORST thing though is that I went outside to the hotel lobby women's room to use the bathroom and there were 5 14-15 yr old girls in freaking leopard skin UNDERWEAR and in lingerie, going into a party in the ballroom next door to our party. There were thuggy 16-17 yr old boys getting patted down in the lobby who were going to the "party" too. Me-my friends peeked thru the crack in the door and the peephole into their ballroom and saw a little lit up stage, the whole room was very dark. These UNDERAGE girls were obviously fixing to put on a "show"! I teach high school, these girls were not more than 8th-9th-10th graders. On the other side of the hotel by the pool were softball teams from out of town oblivious to the fact I guess.. I was so disturbed, I bet these parents had NO IDEA what these girls were doing.

Upon check-in we were greeted by a front desk clerk who looked liked he just walked in off the street. The hotel lobby looked dated and in need of much repair. I thought they had a bar/disco but it was a sweet 16 party they were hosting. We received the keys to our room, went up to it & noticed it smelled bad, was dirty (sliding glass door had fingerprints all over) & there was no fridge as promised. We went downstairs & noticed another man behind the desk wearing a white sleeveless undershirt & the clerk, who then gave us a different room. We went up to the new room & that room also had no fridge and was dirty (later found hairs on bed). We went downstairs again & the clerk said he would send us up a fridge(?). There was a man that rode up in the elevator wih us. He got off at the 8th floor & we noticed the hallway was dark with just a red hall light. We looked again and saw a couple signing in at a table w/ a tarp that blocked everything off behind. When we got to our room we decided not to stay as we felt uncomfortable & just not safe. We went back dowstairs and confronted the clerk as to what was going on up on the 8th FL. All he could tell us was that it was a private funtion with their own security & they rented the whole 8th FL.The clerk did tell us that the hotel is in foreclosure & unquestionably gave us the name of a "nice" hotel nearby. As we were leaving 2 York Cty sheriff's cars & a crime prevention unit showed up. This hotel is obviously out to make money any way they can, hence the man behind the front desk w/white T, clerk advised, only booked parties; didn't even work there.

This hotel was selected by a family member who planned our family reunion this year. She only picked this hotel because it was the cheapest one. When we got to the hotel we automatically knew that this was going to be the worst hotel stay. Just the outside appearance was telling. We go inside and check in anyway because all the other hotels were booked. We get in our rooms and the beds were made up but sloppy, the toilet didn't flush very well, we had to flush three times. The elevators took forever to get to your floor even if you are on the second floor. We finally went and asked for a renovated room because apparently they were switching over as the Clarion. We are now on the 9th floor in one of the "renovated rooms". YEAH RIGHT!!! if it's renovated then how come when you turn on the faucet in the bathroom the whole thing lifts up? How come when we were about to sit down to use the bathroom we spot dried up pee stains on the seat? The only thing renovated was the comforter on the bed that didn't have holes in it like the room we moved from had. OH and the continental breakfast was a joke. You get a ticket that they bought from Office Depot (I know this because it said it on the back) you go into this restaurant that they have in there and no one is in there. Here comes the man who was sleep and he asks what we wanted and we were like "Where's the continental breakfast?" He points to it and all we we saw were stale looking bagels, and a pot of coffee that wasn't even hot. We saw rotten bananas and something that resembled other fruits. We walked out. Do I need to go into anymore detail? The only thing that was great about the hotel was that the location was very convenient to the Airport and to the park across the street. THAAAATTTTSSS about it. I would never ever visit this hotel again. I don't care what they change it too.

pleasent suprize. awesome place! very beautiful room! love the bedspreads!! and great staff very nice and helpful. please improve on the outside of building looks old.

This hotel should be shut down. We arrived at the hotel and was shocked by the appearance of this hotel. The hotel staff told us it was renovated but we couldn't see where is was fixed up any. This hotel is so out of date and not a comfortable place to stay. We checked in and checked back out a half hour later.

Custormer service is the number one factor in the hotel industry. This hotel does not know anything about that. Everything that was asked of the hotel, like can we please get a room with a fridge and microwave, we never got. Cleanliness is important. Once you make it pass the lobby, everything goes down hill. Everything is out-dated. The knob for the water came off in my hand as I tried to turn the water on. I could probably go on and on. My suggestion would be not to suggest anyone else stay there

The Plaza Hotel in Fort Mill is an example of everything that could go wrong with a hotel. Our room was a disgusting mess upon arrival, we did not have adjoining rooms as requested, and we managed to have the elevator and several in-room features break over a two day stay.

We were on a Carowinds vacations with 6 adults and 3 kids. We requested adjoining rooms but when we got there, they weren't adjoining. (which was OK with us) We checked into our rooms to unpack & get ready for dinner. The first thing we noticed was the room decor was circa 1970'ish and the bedspread had cigarette burns in it (even though we all had Non-smoking rooms) The kids went in the pool for awhile. we got back to the room to shower and go across the street to the Mexican Rest. We were ready to leave & my brother couldn't get his electronic key to unlock his room. I couldn't get my dead bolt to close so I could LOCK my door. We fiddled around for almost 2 1/2 hours!! Finally the maint guy had to take apart both our doors to get them fixed. At 10:30pm, our doors were fixed and the kids were antsy. I sent my husband to get takeout from the Rest. We went to Carowinds Monday AM and my brother stopped at the front desk to request new rooms (adjoining preferred) when we got back. After complaining for hours, we did get upgraded 1 floor up to 3 beautiful rooms. They were much better along with a free nite stay next time. Needless to say, the 1st night was horrible when we got there, the 2nd & 3rd was much more enjoyable.
