It's a dump and I was robbed!
By ,
My first experience at the Marriott on Orms street was horrific. I made a spa appointmnent. Upon arrival I realized the "spa" was really a closet with NO a.c. I waited 25 minutes before anyone spoke to me. I left. And I should have stayed away. Instead I decided to come back for the "stay-cation." $15 pool use M-Th. I fell asleep by the pool. When I woke- my purse was gone! The nice lady covered in tattoos next to me had taken it while I was asleep, rummuged through it, and thrown it in the ladies locker room. The building is physically the biggest dump I have ever entered. And this is THE MARRIOTT in downtown Providence. Don't be fooled by the brand. Marriott manages the properties but they are individually owned. And this one obviously has an incompetent owner and management team.

the nicest hotel ever
By ,
first let me say I love the lady that checked us in her name is Katie, she is very sweet and made sure my stay was comfortable. The room were very nice, the hotel had nice entertainment, the pool the jacuzzi all was nice. They provided shuttle to and from the mall, local areas and the amtrak which is neat. The only bad thing I can say about this hotel is that I did not stay long enough

BEAUTIFUL new pool area!!
By ,
Wonderful hotel with exceptional service! My husband and I took a mini vacation to Providence last month and were impressed with the gorgeous newly renovated pool/deck/outside bar. The entire staff was so friendly and made us feel at home, helping us with anything we needed during our stay. Free In house activities are held a few times a week like cooking classes and martini classes. We would definetly make a trip back!!

Bad service, good restaurant
By ,
Pros: good location, moderate price Cons: Oh, do not get me started on the service... Spending 40+ weeks a year on the road I can write a book about hotels. Here are just a couple of facts about Marriott I experienced during my last stay - * Do you know how guests return a tray after in-room dinner service by just leaving a it in the corrodor? Well, I've seen the same tray with unfinished dinner outside of next door for 3 days (!!!). * Do you know how they have an envelope in each room asking for the feedback and promising to do "everything to satisfy our dear guests"? Well, I filled one with the complains and guess what happened? NOTHING Not to mention the wallpapers that peel off, shabby carpet and 10 years old bathroom equipment. Next week I'll be back to Hilton at Atwells avenue for neatly renovated rooms and lower price (parking is expensive there though...)

Exceptional!
By ,
Honestly, they should change their name to "Marriott Providence Resort" because that is what you are getting- a resort for the price of a hotel. Free in-hotel activities every day- we loved the Martini classes! Lots of activities for the kids- great indoor/outdoor pool. Beautiful bar, restaurant, rooms... we walked around in awe the 2 nights we stayed there. Cannot wait to come back- and try their Twin River Casino packages!

THUMBS DOWN
By ,
My husband and I stayed at the Marriott last weekend. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. When we checked in they claimed there were no king bed rooms available though that is what we reserved. However, after my husband asked them to check again, they miraculously found one. The hallway leading to the rooms on the first floor were frightening. The ceilings are barely 6' high and littered with room service trays and glasses (do they not have housekeeping?) Our room was filthy, and the air conditioning unit (it is not central air) made loud noises, making it impossible to have a conversation or to sleep at night. When we asked to change rooms, they gave us the runaround and never returned our calls. The last straw was when we almost did not wake up on time the next morning. The alarm clock was broken and we almost missed the event we flew almost 1000 miles to attend. I've had bad service before, but these people were incompetent and just plain rude.

Only outside pool in town
The staff is outstanding, free parking and walking distance to Downtown mall. It's the only outdoor pool in the area if you want to catch sun. Fitness area is outstanding. Very high class restaurant with fantastic breakfast buffet. The room was nice not huge and the bathroom was a bit small but they have all the extras. You're going to pay a few bucks more but it's well worth it. Nice packages to choose from but you will have to pay for internet.

Inconsistency at best
By ,
When we arrived for our check-in (on the later side of the day after 6:30) the room we were given was not cleaned at all. We were given another room, and the manager was friendly. However, during our stay, we were told to get out of the pool (which was quite dirty with a nasty ring around it) while we were swimming because the chlorine levels got too low and someone got sick (or so we were told). Then we had to evacuate the hotel due to a fire in the building (same day). Later during our stay, my daughter cut her toe on the metal threshold in the room where the tile and carpet meet. When we checked out, no one asked how our stay was- big surprise. Oh, and there's no air conditioning in the hallways! In July, you can break a sweat walking from the elevator to your room. Save your money- it is no bargain, either.

Save the $ and get a motel!
By ,
Nothing special about the staff or location. I was expecting a lot more from a brand as the Marriott. This was the first hotel I was in where you only had a shower stall, I would like to relax in a TUB thank you! Room was small, they tried to cram too much furniture into such a small space. Next time in town, I'll try a cheaper hotel w/ more amenities.
