Stay somewhere else
By REDSHIFT, 8/16/09
I do about 200 nights a year in hotels all over the US. I usally am not picky and stay at MANY Holiday Inns. This is probably the worst HI I've been to yet. When I rains, water was FLOWING through the ceilings on the second foor and right into the carpet on the secone floor halls. The staff is VERY unpleasant and not at ALL helpful with anything. Stayed for a long period and needed to do laundry but the guest laundry was "broken" the whole 4 weeks??? Then they gave incorrect directions to a laundry mat in the getto...great. The halls really do stink of amonia, like cat pee. This place is also by no means cheap. I have stayed at MANY HI's and HIX's that were cheaper and much much nicer. Basically...just do yourself a favor and stay up the road at the Hampton or Comfort Inn! Unfortunately I couldn't change because they were booked up.

Nice place
By The Iguana, 5/31/08
It was a former old-style motel with an outdoor pool where you parked in front of your room that they encased in a larger structure. Overall, it was very clean and comfortable. The Two for Breakfast package was great. The night we stayed there they had a problem with the phone system that caused the in-room phones to ring randomly throughout the night. At first we thought it was a prankster, but the front desk later said it was Verizon (local telephone company) and gave us a steep discount on the room.

Cut Throats
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/07
My husband and I are from Indiana but moved away many years ago. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn several times over the years and have always went away a little disappointed. Some doors open up to the pool, central area and that is not a good thing. When a band is playing in the atrium, you can forget a good night's sleep and the hallways are always wet from the pool areas. They are not quick at mopping that up. Yesterday (10/2/07)we learned that my mother in law was to have surgery on 10/11/07 and we wanted to be in town for that so we looked online and made some calls to see what our hotel options would be in Indiana. We were wanting to stay through the 14th of October so it would have been 4 nights. We quickly learned that it was homecoming for the college and most of the hotels were booked to capacity. Here's the real kicker-the Holiday Inn did away with all discounts and jacked the price up. It was $159 for one night and the Comfort Inn was $70 for one night. The Comfort Inn is newer, cleaner, and includes a continental breakfast. The $70 is their normal rate. They did not jack the price up just because it was homecoming. The Comfort Inn only had a room available for the 10th and 11th but were very accomodating to the point they called their hotel in Blairsville to see if we could stay there over the weekend. Circumstances were changed, and the surgery was cancelled and so then was our trip to Indiana. We will never even consider staying at the Holiday Inn again. Although it may not be against the law for them to raise their rates from $107 to $159 and also to not recognize any discounts, it is not customer friendly. Why would we stay somewhere that is only half as good as the Comfort Inn and charges twice their rates?

Avoid at all costs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/06
The hotel was probably nice in 1975, but has yet to be updated. The staff was unpleasant and lacked basic customer service skills. The front desk staff was incompetent at best! Too many issues to list.

I enjoyed everything about this hotel. The front desk personnel, the housekeepers were pleasant. The room was quiet and comfortable and clean. I will definately return next year for our annual business meetings in Indiana, PA.

Don't stay here!
By cathyS, 7/25/05
This was the WORST hotel I ever stayed at, and I have been to a bunch. I think they converted a motel to a hotel by building hallways outside the doors and enclosing it. It was stifling hot. The hotel was HOT, the halls were hot, the courtyard area was HOT and everyone was complaining... The airconditioners to all the rooms vent into the enclosed hallways..making it miserable and humid inside... The "mini-golf" course they advertise is a joke. They should dig it up and plant a tree. The worst excuse for a course I ever saw, how they call it mini-golf is crazy. They don't even have real golf balls, just hollow ping pong type balls, all the clubs were broken, chipped, dented, (all 4 of them) and it looks like they took scrap pieces of wood and plastic to make a "green". The wireless internet wasn't working when we needed it most. And worst of all, we never got our wake up call and almost missed out trip to the University of Indiana tour...We made it barely but the front desk didn't even care that we didn't get our call and couldn't help with directions very well either.. I think this staff much get so many complaints, they are deadened to anyone complaining. Every person I saw check out or in a hallway, complained about the hotel and service. STAY AWAY!!!!
