Dirty with an Incompetent Staff!
Not only was the hotel room dirty and smelly, the toilet didn't work, there was no fan in the bathroom (which might explain the mold) and it was noisier than any hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was old and run down and not worth the money they charge! We had a very long wait at check in, the food in the sports bar was awful and the service was terrible, and the Breakfast with Santa package was a huge disappointment. It was poorly set up and there was no communication and we were rushed out. The food was mediocre and not at all worth what we paid for this package.
However, the horror started at check in when they said there was a problem with my credit card and it wouldn't go through. This is my checking account and there should be no reason for it not to go through so we ended up paying with another credit card. As soon as we got to our room, I called my bank, only to find that the charges did go through on my account and were approved according to the CSR at the bank--not once, but twice!! I called the front desk, only to be transferred to accounting on the Friday after Thanksgiving--knowing no one was going to be there! We went to the front desk a total of 5 Times to try and get this issue resolved. It resulted in no credits to our account and another debit! They have now debited the account $1000 when we paid for the room with another card. The mgr admitted they had a new credit card system and we'd have to call Acctg on Monday because she couldn't fix it. They had no problem taking our money 4 times, and yet, no one knows how to give it back. In the meantime, I'm without $1000 while they try to figure it out! And the kicker is, we spent almost 5 hours of our vacation (yes, 5 hours!!!) tyring to resolve this issue with them and we did not receive one apology for causing us all of this inconvenience--NOT ONE! Amazing! I will never ever stay at the Hershey Lodge again. I will tell everyone I know my story to be sure that no one I know ever stays at the Hershey Lodge again and I will post a review anywhere I can. This was, by far, the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel and I've stayed at a lot of places. It was the worst service I have ever experienced. My issue should have been resolved with my first phone call to the front desk--and I'm still dealing with it and who knows how long it will take to get resolution. Shame on you Hershey.
