Hotel Pure Avalon Erie, Erie

I love the location, right in Downtown area. The rate is good as well, I got it around $70. Although the room is a little bit out-dated, the service is all right. My company is on a budget, so this hotel fits right in. Plus, they have free internet plus a decent business center.

My husband and i stayed here last year and WOW what a difference!!! We came again to visit with family and the hotel has done a complete turn around, the staff was very helpful and the cleanliness was improved. Overall the location and price are great, and now the service matches it whatever new management is doing they should keep it up

The location is a struggling part of downtown Erie. The hallways were dimly lit, with lots of stains on the carpet. Our room had stained carpet and stained mattresses. I honestly did not take my shoes off to walk on the carpet. The TV did not carry ABC, NBC or CBS - ???? The buses outside ran late into the night (quite loud) and started up again at 6AM. We were a bit uneasy due to the location, lack of cleanliness and lack of other guests - definitely not a family place. We were joking we might find a body somewhere or that it was a good place to bring your "date" for the night, but it really wasn't funny. I wish them luck turning it around - they have a lot of work to do.

Stayed one night August 15. Airconditioning does not work in ANY rooms. I have seen reveiwers complaining about this all the way back in June. Why hasn't it been corrected? The rooms are dirty and dark. Mold in the bathroom.Two elevators did not work. The other one sort of worked and you felt that it would trap you at any moment. The door would not open all the way, it jerked, it would not align with the floor when it did open. It was actually dangerous to ride. The staff did not care. When I called the desk to let them know that my room was over 80 degrees they did not care. When I told them I was leaving and going to dispute the charges to my credit card since I was not staying the night they offered $40 off the room. Since I was with a large group I accpeted it but it still was not enough. They say it is renovated, but I did not see any renovating going on or anything that appeared renovated unless they meant the lobby. I told my wife that I was going to sleep in the lobby because it was the only cool and clean room in the hotel

Terrible parking situation under the hotel. People parked others in. Very inconvenient to get to lobby from parking garage. Steps up to elevators to get to lobby. Not handy if you have a heavy suitcase. Room hot--air didn't work correctly. Not real clean.

The rooms was somewhat clean. Box spring on mbed looked like someone urinated all over the side of it. No air conditioning, no heat, no hot water, and VERY noisy. The emplyees are ruse and obnixious!

Staff was great... Room was hot the air did not work for anybody, street noise the room did not have the amenities that was stated. Would not stay there agian I have been in better hotels for less money.

My husband and I spent our anniversary at the Avalon and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Our room was nice with a great view of the street below, we were right across from the Erie Playhouse. The staff was professional. The restaurant was tops, great food, great waiters, just perfect for our special occassion. We will definetly come back.

I recently stayed at the Avalon Hotel and I doubt I would come back and stay again. They promised us a NON SMOKING room but when we got here, it was smoking. They said they did the best they could "based on availability" even though our contract had said non smoking. The room smelled like stale smoke with the scent of nasty cleaner to "try" to cover it up. We complained to the front desk but instead of fixing it, all they said was "sorry". The room didn't appear as clean as it could be and the door is so old, it looks like someone has tried to break into the room several times. On the positive side, the lobby is beautiful and the wireless internet was great.

no easy access from underground garage to lobby or rooms if you have much luggage or a person who can't handle stairs to the landing by the elevator. Handicapped accessible room not all that accessible. Some areas of property showing a little age. A lot of street noise. Plus side was an efficient staff, and the food and service in the restaurant was very good.
