Avalon Hotel and Conference Center, Erie

Standing at a red light on W. 12th St just looking at the Avalon Hotel was depressing as it looked dirty & discusting from the outside & curtains looked dirty. Wouldn't recommend this 'shabby' looking place to anyone. Clean up your act!!

Currently have a bed bug problem. Found them in our bed! And the staff was nothing but rude and unconcerned with the situation. Had bites for weeks. Also have terrible breakfast, mold everywhere, broken elevators, out lights, poor internet, and clogged/non working drains. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The located was perfect as we attended CelebrateErie festivities. Some of the reviews had me worried about cleanliness but the room was clean--no stains on the carpet, etc. Our floor (8th) was still not completely renovated as we had to go down one floor for ice. Mybiggest complaint was that there was not a convenient outlet for the iron!

This hotel sucks...why? 1. Front desk lady was careless, racist and arrogant 2. We had to park and walk back to front deck to get parking ticket validated after denied exit. No one explained how it worked. 3. Hotel has complimentary breakfast. Wasn't told that it was. 4. Whole hotel looks shabby, carpets are smelly, have weird spots all over. 5. Bathroom is worst, dirty and unhygienic. 6. Wi-Fi hardly works. You can't watch even a single youtube video. 7. You book "delux" suite and they give you a dirty shabby room. 8. Neighborhood is full of lumpen, threatening elements. This hotel is an absolute NO-NO for families. Stay at this dirty and smelly place called a hotel at your own risk!

3/3 nights parties the staff won't stop them. The floor is stained with who knows what. Nothing is clean. The lobby is kinda nice but forget it beyond that...

I love the location, right in Downtown area. The rate is good as well, I got it around $70. Although the room is a little bit out-dated, the service is all right. My company is on a budget, so this hotel fits right in. Plus, they have free internet plus a decent business center.

My husband and i stayed here last year and WOW what a difference!!! We came again to visit with family and the hotel has done a complete turn around, the staff was very helpful and the cleanliness was improved. Overall the location and price are great, and now the service matches it whatever new management is doing they should keep it up

The location is a struggling part of downtown Erie. The hallways were dimly lit, with lots of stains on the carpet. Our room had stained carpet and stained mattresses. I honestly did not take my shoes off to walk on the carpet. The TV did not carry ABC, NBC or CBS - ???? The buses outside ran late into the night (quite loud) and started up again at 6AM. We were a bit uneasy due to the location, lack of cleanliness and lack of other guests - definitely not a family place. We were joking we might find a body somewhere or that it was a good place to bring your "date" for the night, but it really wasn't funny. I wish them luck turning it around - they have a lot of work to do.

Stayed one night August 15. Airconditioning does not work in ANY rooms. I have seen reveiwers complaining about this all the way back in June. Why hasn't it been corrected? The rooms are dirty and dark. Mold in the bathroom.Two elevators did not work. The other one sort of worked and you felt that it would trap you at any moment. The door would not open all the way, it jerked, it would not align with the floor when it did open. It was actually dangerous to ride. The staff did not care. When I called the desk to let them know that my room was over 80 degrees they did not care. When I told them I was leaving and going to dispute the charges to my credit card since I was not staying the night they offered $40 off the room. Since I was with a large group I accpeted it but it still was not enough. They say it is renovated, but I did not see any renovating going on or anything that appeared renovated unless they meant the lobby. I told my wife that I was going to sleep in the lobby because it was the only cool and clean room in the hotel

Terrible parking situation under the hotel. People parked others in. Very inconvenient to get to lobby from parking garage. Steps up to elevators to get to lobby. Not handy if you have a heavy suitcase. Room hot--air didn't work correctly. Not real clean.
