Crescent Lodge, Cresco

Let me first say that when we walked in to the lodge my husband and I thought we were in for a real treat. The room's were tastefully decorated and the piano in the background was delightfull. The nightmare began when we first sat down. We were not given a wine list and we were asked for a drink order the second we sat down like we were at a road side diner. The waitress paid more attention to other tables we weren't even asked if we were enjoying our meal. She never asked us if we wanted more cocktails and she did not even fill our water glasses. We felt like outcasts. I ordered duck I never ever had duck that was so tough and hard to eat. It was a nightmare cutting into my meal. My husband had the crab imperial needless to say it did not settle well with him. At the end of the meal we were not prompted for coffee or desert she just asked us if we wanted our check. We really felt unwanted at this resturant. The wait staff was unfriendly and seemed to pick and choose who they like. My husband and I were dressed appropiately we made reservations ahead of time we had no special demands of food or wait staff. So I'm very perplexed why we were ignored and treated so poorly here.

The cottages are great! Comfy, private, pretty... The grounds are clean and well kept. The food at the lodge is wonderful. Every meal was excellent. We go there every year for a quiet few days and some fine dining.

I never in my life have been treated with such disrespect from people in the service industry (I myself am in the service industry and say that with the utmost respect for the profession, those of us that now how to work it anyway) I would recommend staying in Buck Hill which is only two miles away. It's worth it. The front desk people are unfriendly and unhelpful. My stay was a nightmare. The rooms were too small for two people. Walked into two other rooms using our room key (there was no room number on the door) The room was the size of a walk in closet. The staff was snippy and unhelpful. Again I want to reiterate how rude the staff is.

The people were so friendly.....We both took eachother on our Birthdays, The Valley House was awesome.....we did'nt care if it was a monsoon outside........At dinner they made you feel like a king and queen..
