Cousin Country Inn, The Dalles

Super clean & quiet. Wheelchair friendly. Very friendly staff. Great food in the restaurant. They have a great little gift shop too. I really appreciated the attention to detail in the decor inside & out

We stayed in one of The Barn rooms, which are very spacious and comfortable. King sized bed, gas fireplace, large flat screen TV. However, the drinking glasses/coffee cups in our room were dirty (covered with fingerprints etc). The TV guide channel did not work. We did not receive our complimentary newspaper or free movie rental. Food in the saloon and restaurant were good. In the evening in the saloon, you get a bucket of peanuts on your table and can throw the shells on the floor. (So be prepared if this kind of thing grosses you out.) Breakfast portions are HUGE! The eggs and flat cake meal came with two eggs, four pieces of bacon, and two monstrous pancakes, and could easily be split between two people if you aren't super hungry. Nice, but at $159.00 plus tax ($173.13 total), I expect just a bit better!

We stayed at Cousins last month and it really is a nice property, really clean comfy rooms, but the very rude girl we dealt with when we checked in just ruined our experience. This girl (Jenna) ignored us when we first came up to the desk and seemed more interested in talking with her "girlfriends" than helping a customer. That was just such a big turnoff. But at least there was a really good restaurant on the property and it was a decent price for the value.

The motel rooms were fine and the motel staff great. The restaurant was inconsistent in its quality and the only good staff was in the bar. When talking to the manager about the quality of food or waitstaff his solution is always a free piece of pie...not worth it. Won't go back or recommend the restaurant but will gladly put family in the motel.

This is a simple, clean, no frills place to stay. There are small microwaves and fridges in the rooms. It may sound silly, but the best feature to me is the fabulous showerhead! It is such an unassuming looking little plastic device, but it provides such a satisfying shower I evan asked the front desk worker if she knew where I could buy one. She said they get that all the time. The on-site restaurant offers hearty "down home" cooking with large portions.

Our hotel room was clean, warm and comfortable and at a great rate. The staff was friendly and prompt with service, and the personal welcome notes left by housekeeping was a great touch. We enjoyed visiting the Cousins Restraunt, the service was quick and friendly, the food tasted great, and we absolutely loved the little trains that circled the ceiling! We will definetly stop in again!

The staff were very cordial and responsive. Rooms were clean and the bedding was warm (cold night when I was there) Hotel is also very close to eating and shopping. They also have their own restaurant if you do not want to go out. Even had complementary Sunday paper !!!

Cousins Country Inn in The Dalles, Oregon is just about the friendliest place you can visit in the Western United States. Not only are the Inn accommodations clean and quiet, but the adjacent Restaurant & Saloon is abounding in the flavor of The Dalles. You don't have to walk far from your room to enjoy the BEST CINNAMON ROLLS in the world or a delicious, generous meal at any time of the day. There is a great variety of really good food, prepared country style and reasonably priced. The location is on a main city street, just off the interstate,(you can't miss the signs) and access to the City Center is a short drive. The many historic sites and museums and the setting next to the beautiful Columbia River makes The Dalles a nice weekend stop in your travels. The Discovery Center is a marvelous educational center where you can learn so much about the Lewis & Clark expedition, native Americans, wildlife and the geological history of the cascades and the formation of the river. It is a short drive west of Cousins and it makes a wonderful half day family excursion. Kids love the old wagons, tractors, model train in the lobby, and the life sized farm animals that make their Mooooooos and Baaaaaaaaaaas as you approach the entry to the office or restaurant. Their small gift shop has unique, down home quality items that will please both young and old. You can even purchase a real country apron or even a bonnet to take back home to add to your own country cookin' necessities. Make reservations early...they fill up quickly! We recently moved to The Dalles and will certainly put our guests up at the Cousins Country Inn. The country heritage and flavor of this community is abounding at Cousins and couldn't be more inviting. It's a truly FUN R&R stop as you travel the interstate.
