Best Time!
By ,
I went to Mazama Village for my 1 year anniversary vacation. We stayed at a camp ground in the C loop and we had a great time the Anne Creek restaurant had economical food if you don't feel like cooking up some camp food and the store has just about anything you might have forgot. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

We'll be back!
By ,
We had a great time staying at the Mazama Motor Inn. It has been recently renovated and was in great shape. I would definitely recommend it. The sheets and towels were of very good quality, and the room was very clean. The location is great....just a short drive to the lake. There is a store nearby that has everthing from food to souvenirs. They even have a penny sqashing machine! The room is a little spendy for a sparse and simple room, but once you see that magnificent lake, you'll realize that it's worth it. As noted in previous reviews, there is no TV. But who goes to a National Park to watch TV?! Bring a book, a magazine, or a friend if you need something to do after dark. Things to note: 1. Bring mosquito repellant! The mosquitos are everywhere! We had a couple in our room, but they are much much worse when you are actually up by the lake. 2. Get gas before you head to the park because there are no gas stations anywhere near the park, and the one they do have in the park itself only has outrageously expensive regular unleaded. 3. There are no refrigerators in the rooms, so bring a cooler.

We'll Go Back in 2006!
By ,
We were also dismayed about the Condition of the Mazama Village Motor Inn rooms. When we complained to the manager we were told they are going to be renovated in time for the season opening in 2006. Apparently with all the construction happening in the Park, including the new restaurant and gift shop right at Mazama Village, it has just taken time to plan and do the renovation. With all the snow during the winter and the high demand for lodging in the park during the summer, it is very hard to schedule a renovation. We are looking forward to going back and staying at the new cabins and enjoying the new facilities. The service was great and the Park was beautiful.

National Park Service Disgrace
By ,
I cannot believe that the National Park Service allows a concessionaire to get away with the deplorable conditions that Xanterra calls a guest room. Take note now, all the photos you see on the website are from Crater Lake Lodge. There is not a single picture of the Mazama Village Motor Inn, and for good reason. Walking into the room we were overwhelmed by a musty combination body odor, old food smell. The carpet looked as if it had not been cleaned in several WEEKS. Stains were everywhere. We refused to walk on it without shoes on. As stated in another review, no TV, no A/C, (pretty cool at night), pretty thin walls, a couple of dirty chairs to sit on. We did have hot water. No outside accommodations such as patio furniture. Accommodations are so scarce at Crater Lake that once there you have little choice. I would take a tent and sleep outside before I stayed in one of the rooms at the Mazama Village Motor Inn. We talked to guest at the Crater Lake lodge and she remarked that her room was not all that great either, that it needed a lot of cleaning.

mosquitos !
By ,
An isolated cabin with mosquitos the size of small birds that chase you through the door. No TV, and no HOT WATER! The entertainment was smashing bugs. Crater lake was gorgeous, but this was the worst $100 we ever spent!
