Take your own pillows
By ,
Beautiful views, nice staff, food OK and pricey (captive audience) lots to do in area. Now for the down side. The pillows were the worst of any place I've stayed in the world and that includes mid to low class hotels in Mexico. In the Lodge rooms there is nowhere to put you toilettries at the sink area, no amenities in the room other then TV and AC, these rooms are not cheap. Otherwise nice. When I asked about breakfest was told there was a buffet for $11.95, was not told of a continental buffet for $6.95. Check in time is 4pm and as far as I could tell them are firm on this, and check out is 11am, if you are late on that they charge you. Would not stay at Lodge, maybe cabins, pillow there are bad also, but do have kitchens and a better deal if you go with 2 couples. No maid service there. Many people I spoke with had pillow issues, one group in cabin went to Walmart and bought pillows. I never got really comfy ones during stay.

Awesome summer retreat!
By ,
An absolute treasure nestled in the Smokeys. Our cabin was beautiful and there was always something to do in the village. Enjoyed evenings of square dancing, softball, miniature golf and bonfires. Days were spent at the pool, on the lake and white water rafting. Prices were very reasonable, as the cabin had a full kitchen, dish washer, leather couches and wood floors. The porch was great to enjoy a cup of coffee and the scenery first thing in the morning. All the staff are great and the village is a great place to get away, relax and enjoy the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Will go every summer!

Went on a \"Gap\" trip

A little out of the way unless you really like 28 (which I do) but otherwise hands down this place is it. I won't stay anywhere else from here on out. Thanks again to the entire staff! LouisvilleSportbikes.com group member

Quiet & a non stop beautiful view!
By ,
The location was beautiful. We traveled in the off season which meant prices were great but not much to do. Before you travel to the resort check road reports to make sure the main roads are open. Our 1 hour trip turned into 4 hours because 2 roadways into the mountain were temp. closed due to rock slides. The resort was very nice & the rooms were quite impressive.

Nice enough place for the money if you have kids
By ,
My idea of a vaction is getting away from it all and this place is away from everything. We have been there three times and are going back this summer. The first year we stayed in a log trailer (one bedroom) It was new and very nice. The second year we stayed in a two bedroom cabin. It was acceptable at 129$ a night but had a few problems. The pools are nice and well maintained. There are limited activities for the kids like bubble blowing and a craft place that you have to pay for the crafts to do. The trout pond is a joke. The only thing in it are frogs. The prices at the restaurant are outrageous. The prices at the grill are reasonable enough. The store prices are reasonably high but not too high. Take all your own stuff including TOILET PAPEr. The weather is about 10 degrees cooler than South Carolina Midlands so it is a nice respite. It is a nice central location for all mountain activities. My wife and I used to rent a cabin in the mountains every summer, but with kids that gets kinda boring for them. At least here there are things for them to do like playgrounds and a ball field. I recommend this place.

Best Vacation In Years
We had always gone to the Gatlinburg side of the National Park with all of it's traffic and noise. We found Fontana Village online and thought. "...let's see what's up on that side of the park." Unreal. We stayed in the lodge the first two nights and then grabbed a nice cabin for the rest of the week. The Bistro had great food. We used their marina to access the incredible fly fishing in the southwest region of the park and spent a lot of time just kicking back in the Village. Fontana Lake was spectacular- 30 miles long, dividing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park from the Nantahala National Forest. One of the best vacations in years. Definitely a "let your hair down and grin" vacation.

Incredible Place
By ,
The first time our family came to this place, we couldn't believe there were still treasures like this in the Smokies. We don't visit the Smokies to walk in the crowds and neon of Gatlinburg. Fontana is on the exact opposite side of the National Park. It has everything Gatlinburg doesn't- hiking, mountain biking, water sports and a classic mountain resort. Their Lodge is great. They have cabins, houseboats and a campground too. The roads are some of the best rides and views in the country. This place is an all round destination for families, couples, retreats. You name it. Great place! We're going back..... again and again.

Do not waste your money.
By ,
The food service is terrible. Rooms are very small, dark and the housekeeping is non-existent. Tub and toliet were not cleaned daily, and by the end of our stay, there was a nice ring in the bathtub. Very disappointing. The only nice thing was the location. Management better step up, or this place will not have any repeat business.

Family Tradition
By ,
My family has been going to Fontana Village for as long as I can remember. My grandparents took their children...Their children(my mom)took her children and now we are taking our children. My family has enjoyed numerous summers in the Great Smocky Mountains and will continue to do so for many more generations. My mother worked there during the summers as a teenager. My grandfathers family is from Robinsville so it is really convienent for us to both vacation and spend time with family all at the same time. For many years my cousin Luther Turpin, ran the marina/boat dock on Fontana Lake. I highly reccomend families spending some time at Fontan Village during the summers.....they will create memories that will last a life time and who knows maybe even start their own family tradition!!!
