Disgusting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/11
I was impressed with the price, free internet, free HBO. Upon entering my room I noticed there was no internet signal, HBO was scrambled, Bed smelled old, the water had a yellow tinge. We bought water and coffee at a local store for the night. To top things off the next morning when I put my sandals on I thought I had a huge leaf stuck IN my shoe...IT wasnt a leaf, it was a COCKROACH. I had never seen one and I showed my husband. He said, Pack up our things we are out of this place!!! Remember the old adage you get what you pay for...its true.

Great Stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/11
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and reasonably priced. The breakfast was a real plus, too. Overall an excellent value and great stay. The location was close to everything we wanted to see and enjoy.

cant wait to check out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/11
As soon as I pulled up I knew it wasn't be a great experience. Room smells musty and beds are very old and outdated. Floor feels damp and gross. To be honest I would prefer to sleep in my rental car. Would recommend people to stay at the Hampton Inn.

NEVER STAY AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/13/10
Room was Moldy and bed spreads old. Front desk staff stood outside main door and smoked. Not professional. Lobby is dusty..maybe the girl smoking could take time to clean! Not going back.

Wanted to leave the minute I arrived!
By LM from NY, 8/10/09
We read the previous reviews that said, "good value for the money" and "best breakfast" etc. DON'T believe them! First off, the room was musty and damp....I was never in bare feet because the carpet always felt wet. Upon careful examination, I believe that there was mold on the walls that had been painted over! The bathroom had a 2x2 foot area to stand in - and the beds, besides also feeling damp, were only full size....not queen. The air conditioner was the loudest I've ever heard in a hotel room ~ it ran almost constantly and sounded like a freight train was right in the room with you! Finally, the "great" breakfasts ....uh, no. They had sausage gravy & biscuits, cereal, french toast you warmed up in the toaster, and waffle you could make yourself. The attendant also offered to get you a cheese omelet....with reheating instructions! They also had a tip jar set out. Overall I would have rather paid a little more and stayed down the street at the Quality or Days Inns and eaten at the Dunkin Donuts.

Needs to be closed and Remodeled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/09
I would not recommend this hotels to anyone. There is mold in the bathrooms, rooms smell like mold and is not very clean.Stairs to outside rooms are falling apart. Then the rooms in the tower are not much better. We were supose to check in but we refused to because of conditions of the rooms and Hotel in general. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE..

Cannot Recommend This Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/08
I was given a room in the "Tower", it had an unpleasant odor, mould in the bath, and cockroaches - seriously. There were no blankets on the bed only a ratty bed spread and we all know the horror stories of hotel bedspreads! The front desk staff were more interested in answering the telephone than serving customers in person. The biscuits and gravy for breakfast were good but I had to wonder if the cockroaches had found their way to the kitchen.

Won't go back there
By scuba divers, 9/19/08
We have been coming to NC and staying at the Buccaneer for 20 years. Unless you are booked into the tower the rooms have been declining steadily. The electrical is scary with outlets not working well and almost falling out of the wall. The toilet had a permanent ring and the tub did not look clean. The furniture has seen better days. We had to ask for towels. We will not stay there again.

Good Breakfast Included but....
By StacyN, 8/30/08
The desk staff was friendly and efficient. The location is right on the main highway so it is convenient for travelers, but you will need to drive to the activities. After check-in (late in the evening) we could not find parking anywhere close to our room. The tavern next door seemed pretty busy and I think the customers were using the hotel parking lot. We were on the 2nd floor and didn't find any elevator to get there. The room needed updating. Good: there was a coffee pot, refrigerator, microwave and hair dryer. The water pressure was adequate and the shower drained well. But, on the negative side, the bottom of the shower looked rusty--maybe due to the water itself looking cloudy and rusty. The bedding was worn, the box springs needed somthing covering up the wear and dirt on them. Overall cleaniless was no better than 6 out of 10. A good feature was morning breakfast. There were lots of choices like cereal, waffles, and toast, but get there early since at 9:00 the doors are closed and you can't even get a cup of coffee. Overall, it wasn't too bad, but one night was enough for me.
