Family friendly & fresh food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/11
Relaxed atmosphere and a general feeling of calm. We truly enjoyed the view from the cozy but expansive deck. This deck looks over the water and sail boats and happy children playing at the beach. I really liked the lunch with a choice of fresh organic kale salad (apparently picked from a local farm) and the fresh tuna burger was just plain yummy!! This is a child friendly resort and I recommend it to families who want a safe and relaxed vacation spot.

Go Back Every Year for Memorial Weekend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/21/10
The Pridwin is a wonderful hotel. It is located on the bay side of Shelter Island and the beach is directly across the street. The rooms are quaint and romantic with a wonderful ocean view. There are tennis courts, running, biking and just sitting on the beach and relaxing. It is very family oriented and the same people come back for Memorial day year after year. The dinners are exquisite as they catch the fresh fish of the day for dinner along with other options on the dinner menu. The dinning al fresco is wonderful if weather permits as if overlooks the bay side of the island. I love to spend my time jogging, biking, swimming, sunning and enjoying the ambiance of this wonderful hotel. You can take a short ferry ride to Greenport or Sag Harbor and enjoy those towns as well. Claudios in Greenport is another special place for lunch, dinner and dancing.

An Awful Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/8/07
My family and I stayed for two long nights. It was prepaid and other accommodations were unavailable, so we had no choice. We selected a cabin ($360.00 + per night). It was dirty, required maintenance, the toilet did not work, the bathroom was the size of a powder room, the telephone wasn't working, no amenities (tissues, iron, ironing board, etc.), and no door on the one bedroom, just a fan fold curtain. The furnishings were cheap, worn and sparse. We did have a 19" TV with cable. Parking was a real problem and don't hope to park near your room, especially on the weekends. Overpriced, shabby, undesirable, the philosophy seems to be, "how little time, expense and thought can we put into our hotel". It was like a cabin you would expect at a summer camp for children, but not as nice. Run, don't look back!

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/24/06
My wife and I stayed at the Pridwin to take a break from our 2 year old son. The whole point was to relax and sleep in. The area is great, the rooms are very small and the bed was horrible. We had a hard time sleeping there, even after a bottle of wine, since the bed was so uncomfortable. The walls are paper thin, hence, we could hear everyone's conversations-very annoying. The room felt like a closet, although it was clean, it was very disappointing. The receptionist was nice and friendly, but there was no other staff to speak of. We've stayed at B & B's on Shelter Island before and will go back to that. I recommend you look into the B & B's as well, since there is more attention to detail and making your stay more pleasurable. I really wanted to like this place, but I can't find myself recommending it to anyone.

Great romantic getaway
I went to the Pridwin Hotel a couple of weeks ago and I LOVED every minute of my stay there. It's a peaceful, cosy place and the atmosphere is great. The cottage we stayed at was lovely and the area of the hotel is both relaxing and rejuvenating. GREAT PLACE... an ideal location for a wedding.
