YUCK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/11
I left with a ton of bed bug bites!!! YUCK!!! Hotel is very out dated! Pictures do NOT do it justice! Old and smokey smelling. We left one night early of plans in Niagra because of hotel conditions. If we return, we will stay on Canada side of Falls, New York side is very run down and old looking. They allow pets so cat hair and my allergies were not a good mix. My suggestions is that they level this hotel and rebuild.

Worst Place I have ever stayed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/11
This hotel is not worth the money. The people are rude, dogs barking all night and you can't sleep keeping your children awake. The breakfast room is so small we couldn't even get a cup of coffee or juice for the kids. Elevator is so smal that only a couple of people can get in at a time especially if someone has a child in a stroller. We left early because the hotel accommodations were not good. I will never stay in another Howard Johnsons Hotel as long as I live this was by far the worse hotel.

Good for the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/11
We got a really good price for our room since we were visiting off season. The hallways weren't heated, so they were freezing. The low flow toilets that they had are my only real complaint, however most hotels are moving in that direction so I guess is to be expected. It's not a 5 star hotel, but the staff was helpful, the pool was small but a nice treat. The sauna was a nice plus too.

Great place! Would certainly return again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/09
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given adjoining rooms for our party of 6. The rooms were larger than the usual rooms we have stayed in and they were clean, with more than adequate linen for us all. There were several guests that were dogs owners, and their pets were very quiet and well behaved. The kids and adults both enjoyed the heated, indoor pool with lifeguard. The continental breakfast had many choices. There is a gift shop next door and also helicopter rides, which we took advantage of. The American Falls is within walking distance. The staff recommended a family type restaurant that was great and not pricey. Wish we could have stayed longer! The greatest asset the hotel has is their wonderful staff! Thank you for the nice visit!

Wonderful stay, definitely would recommend it!
By cookie, 11/3/08
Shame on those that gave such awful reviews! We were greeted by very, friendly and helpful people that went out of their way to make our stay a good one. This hotel has a very nice pool, clean comfortable rooms and a very adequate continental breakfast. We walked to the falls every day of our stay. Its not the Ritz, no one puts a chocolate on your pillow or makes funny little animals with the towels....but its not a dive either. Its family and wallet friendly, leaving more money to be spent on the attractions nearby, which to us is the reason we go on vacation. We go to see the sites, not the hotel! We will definitely stay again on the next trip.

It's fine.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/08
Our room is clean- no bugs or spiders. There is a lifeguard at the pool. The maid is very friendly. Woman in gift shop was very helpful. Hotel is old. Breakfast room is way too small and there is not much selection. Elevator is small and dirty. Front desk staff not very helpful. So far- 2nd day here.

Well....It was close...
By Jim, 10/19/07
Best part about this motel; Can't get much closer to the faalls on the US side! Room was okay, but the place could use a little TLC. 4th Floor smelled of old carpet. Breakfast room was really small, and very warm. Only had 5-6 small tables for guests. Not the best place I have stayed in, but not the worst either. Only took about ten minutes to walk from our room to the middle of Rainbow Bridge.

Not Impressed - Dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/07
Carpets in rooms and hall areas were filthy. I would not walk in bare feet. We had black mold in the shower area and the entire bathroom needed a good scrubbing. The hotel is old and that is ok, as I've stayed in many old hotels. But filth and dirt are not ok. On the plus side the staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the location is just fabulous. You can walk to everthing. Such a shame that a hotel in such a wonderful location doesn't "clean up its act"!!

Okay...
By Anne, 7/2/07
The Howard Johnson was about a 10 minute walk to the falls so that was pretty good. However, there are not many good restaurants in the area. Next time it would be better to stay on the Canadian side (better for tourists and probably a better view). The pool and sauna were good. However, the pool is pretty deep. The breakfast room was way too small. There were about 5 tables there to accomodate a 5 story building. The line for breakfast (we quickly learned to just bring a tray) stretched out of the door. Also, they sometimes ran out of certain items because of the number of people there. The food itself was not the best, but it was enough (just hard to carry it all out). It is a little old, but it serves the purpose. And it's close to the falls. We stayed on the 5th floor which appeared to have older AC units (ours broke but was quickly fixed). I guess it might be a bit nicer on the other floors, but we had a good view.
