best hotel to stay in if you like modern
By RubyShoes, 08/21/08
Ok, I am from Syracuse BUT I don't live there anymore. So, when we come back, we stay at this hotel. It may not look spectacular from the outside (its plain) but its modern on the inside!!! I love the HUGE comfy bed and the shower the most. The shower head is one of those rainfall types in the ceiling. I love it, it is literall off the highway, and its location to everything is central. The mall is not far, the university around the corner, downtown life is near. I love this hotel. Yeah, you can save some money by staying somewhere else, but this is worth the extra money...We cannot comment on the food as we never eat at the hotel....there is more in the city that we like. THANKS!!!

Great place for the $
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/07
I stayed with my daughter on a "get away" shopping weekend this past summer ('06) & was more than pleased with the accomodations at the Marx. It was very clean & the staff were both courteous & helpful. Also, the hotel had the look & feel of a much "fancier" place than what you'd expect for the cost. We ordered room service one night, ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant one morning & took advantage of the Sunday brunch. The food was top-notch. We chose this hotel because of the proximity to the Dinosaur BBQ & found that the hotel had a courtesy shuttle service to most areas of interest (including the mall, which was our primary destination for the weekend). Overall, very convnient.

assume bed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/04/07
I have to say this is the first hotel that I stayed in and I absolutely loved the bed. It was assume!!! The bathroom is a little small, but everything else made up for it. Thanks Marx Hotel.

We won't go back!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
This Hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel. What joke. It shouldn't be rated a two star!! The room we wre assigned to was unmade, it was filthy and the place stunk. The restaurant (Redfield's) was supposedly also a four star and that to was a joke. The kitchen got the order wrong and the cook (notice this could not have been a chef) couldn't follow simple instructions like NO SAUCE ON THE FILET MIGNON. I am totally displeased with our stay and have gotten the run around from expedia and the hotel re expressing our concern

Will not be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/06
I liked the modern look about the hotel however there were more negatives than positives. VERY small bath and shower area, European style shower head...non adjustable rain water strength. Ice machine out of order more than 3 days, No complimentary coffee of fruit in lobby as other NY state hotels have. No bibles in the hotel rooms, fitness facility was in public view of all entering the hotel, poor security and unsafe hall set up. Lamps held bulbs that were out burned out.... poor lighting. Staff didn't seem to enjoy their work. Luggage load/unload area was shared with the driveway to the parking ramp and conference center entrance...very crowded. No pool.

elegance!
By bxmich, 02/07/06
clean, courteous and efficient. our room was big and gave us a "warm" feeling. our requests of having a crib and a fridge were met. in fact, it was all set up by the time we got there. staff was friendly and courteous. complaints: they advertised that breakfast was buffet style (untrue), it was a la carte. the restaurant prices were inflated, ex. a cup of milk was $2.00. they also advertised that there were complimentary newspapers in the lobby. i was told they ran out. bring your own pillows, or you'll get a stiff neck.there are no bathtubs. this was real difficult with small children.

pleasant surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/05
This hotel was great. The view breath taking especially since I was on one of the top floors. There is glass from floor to ceiling with 180 degree view. The bed so well made and plush. The decor of the room modern. The bathroom was beautifully designed, therefore I will overlook the fact that it could have been a little bigger. My seven year old now chooses this hotel as her favorite for classroom writings.

I am telling everyone....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/05
I have never been so pleasantly surprised! My in initial thought was that this might be one of those hotels that was stuck in a time warp, you know, outdated furnishings etc. But I could not have been more wrong. The hotel lobby, lounge and dining area were all above and boyond. Our meals were wonderful. The best part though, was the room. I have never slept in such a comfortable hotel bed, the linens were sinfully comfortable, new, fresh and "plump". I did not want to get out of bed in the morning. I loved the shower design, but did hear from others that not all the rooms had very good water pressure. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. As a matter of fact, I have!

Can't wait to go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/05
As soon as we walked into the room, it was fantastic. We didn't want to leave the bed once we were there. The view was great, overlooking the city. I didn't want to leave the shower. My only complaint..the bathroom was too small. Everything was elegant and we can't wait to return.
