The Darkest Hotel I have Ever Stayed In
Despite a host of questions about our likes and dislikes asked in an email prior to our arrival, there was no follow through (no newspaper at all, let alone the one we preferred, no chocolates, even though we were asked about dark vs. milk chocolate, etc.). The email had led us on to anticipate excellent service.
There is no light in the hotel. We stayed there two days, two of the brightest, sunniest days in NYC, and could not even read a book in our room with all the lights on.
There is no light in the shower, and when the shower curtain is pulled, you cannot even read the bottle of the shampoo to see if it's shampoo or conditioner. It is also slippery and dangerous -- an accident (and a lawsuit) waiting to happen. Forget about putting makeup on. So dark in the halls that the room numbers are embroidered in white on the carpets -- otherwise you could not find your room.
Takes 20 minutes to get your car from the valet. If you want the ipod they lend you you can keep it for $750! Not kidding. Asked for a white pages phone book. Not one in the entire hotel. I could go on.
When we complained about the darkness, the hotel took $200 off our bill. That was nice, but it did not make up for an awful, dark, depressing experience. Totally overpriced.
