The Genesee Grande Hotel, Syracuse

great place i will go back, good service, excellent food in the restaurant, hotel staff is very nice and helpfull, clean rooms beatiful baths, a very differnt place very calm atmosfera, i have to visist syracuse in december i will stay again!!!!!!

The is a very beautiful hotel but, the customer service is awful for this hotel. I reserved 7 rooms and a banquet room for a small luncheon. The staff on the phone and at the reservation desk are clueless!! And they alway have a difficult time finding a manager...One Saturday afternoon, it took 3 front desk employees over 1/2 hour to tried to determine who in my party reserved rooms in my block of rooms. Finally, they told me to come back on Monday because I had to talk to the person who originally reserved my rooms??? I was given incorrect info several times. Also, when my guess arrived the AC was broken and the night staff refuse to upgrade some of my guest even when my guess tried to pay for the upgrade...the hotel had vacanies. The night staff move some of my guess approx 4 times in one night to several different HOT rooms (in Aug, 90 degree daytime temp), instead of moving them to suites where the AC was working. On the second night and after I complained to two different managers (my guests complaints to several managers didn't work), my guest were able to move to suites with working AC. The luncheon was nice and the food was good, but the rooms are very small. Next time I am going to the Marx!!

This is the best hotel!!! We stayed in the Genesse Suite (I liked this the best) and the Mayflower Suite on the way home. Both rooms were awesome and only $129.95 per night. The bathrooms are beautiful (granite/marble), the suites are big, you get 2 TVs, the internet connection was fast and reliable. It was extrememly quite (no hearing noise from neighbors or hallway), the employee's were friendly, and the bed was very comfy. Our Mayflower suice even had a safe and heating lamp in the bathroom. The decorations in both suites are gorgeous. The only thing we didn't like was the location as far as the surrounding immediate area. It's not very nice once you walk about of the hotel. It's inner-city, and looks not so safe. You can go into the old town for dinner, but there's no where to park. Instead, we took a quick drive to the Carusel mall, and there's tons of restaurants there (Pizzera Uno's was great), with free and safe parking. The city is hard to navigate, so get a map from the hotel of the area. Watch out, because our mapped directions from google did not get us directly to the hotel. Otherwise, I would go out of my way to stay at this hotel. Especially on a honeymoon or a regular vacation with your spouse. No pool, but a good exercise room.

we stayed at the Parkview hotel which belongs to the Geneese Grande hotel the price, ammenities, location, and the "staff" were so wonderfull, ceirtainly worth staying, the furniture/beds were great the Front Desk clerks were great, Stephanie was most helpfull, professional, friendly and knowledgeable of her job it made my stay great since I was an early ck in, really worth checking while in Syracuse NY.

the genesee grand hotel was a great expierence with the fish pond and great service.Even the bathroomshad a basket of goodies that you could use incase you forgot something. The rooms are very neat and had great service.The 1060 restraunt was very nice and affordable. It had very unique dishes and awesome service. I would deffinetly go back agian to sleep or jsut eat there!!!!!!!

Inexpensive, but it did not feel like it. Very nice and the staff was very helpful.

It was clean! It has been remolded so everything is less than 2 years old. Service is excellent. People are friendly and helpful. I loved the gym. The food was great.

Poor Customer Service! Seemed as though the staff at the front desk was bothered. Not very helpful or willing to provide information.

I stayed at this Hotel in September, 2004 and am so pleased that I am returning in January, 2005 then again in April, 2005. Though my business brings me closer to a different area hotel, I rather go further to have good service, a beautiful clean room and not to go unnoticed the hospitality, that this is my hotel "of choice". The staff is friendly, and go the extra mile to please, that's you Lyndie! So I recommend this high class hotel you would only think to find in New York and its in good ole Syracuse, NY.
