Depe Dene Resort, Lake George

Growing up in the 1970's, my family spent every summer up at Depe Dene, but sadly it now seems nothing has been cleaned, updated or maintained since the '70's either. It is in such a profound state of disrepair and filth, it would take a major overhaul to restore it to its former lustre. We checked in and immediately upon seeing the grotesque condition of the room - - i.e. soiled linens, dirt and dust, we promptly left. Don't waste your time and money. It's better to remember this place the way it once was.

depe dene advertises that they have kayaks, they do not , they say there are jet skis to rent , they do not. they have about 50 lounge chairs for the beach area, there are not enough . we came back from breakfast at 9:00am every lounge chair had a towel on it, there was not one person on the beach and no more chairs available. the love seat that served as the couch in our room was about 10 years past its time. other than that the place was great

I don't know why people are giving the place such bad reviews. I have been going here the same week every year with my family for the past 6 or 7 years. The facilities are clean enough. I was there during the big blackout a few years back, and the staff was great. We had water after only about an hour. They have portable generators. The beach is a bit rocky, but great to swim in. The pool is nice. The hot tub is very clean. Towel returns every morning give extra towels, so no problems there. Plenty of parking available. There is a store and horseback riding across the street. The basketball courts need a renovation, as well as the tennis courts. They have basketballs, horse shoes, tennis equipment, ping pong, and more that are available to use free of charge. There are 2 playgrounds. The water is great for fishing. The biggest downside is the huge hill to walk up and down to get to the water. It's not for the old or faint of heart. My family likes to call it heart attack hill. Of course you can drive down the hill. Overall everything there is great. I will be there in a few weeks going 70 mph on a wave runner

It was our first visit to Depe Dene this year but not our last. The cabins wew clean and comfortable. The grounds, beach and pool perfect. The staff the best! we have made our reservation for next summer like most of the people we met this summer have. My family can't wait to go back.

We have been going to the Depe Dene for Americade weekend for 8 years. We have always had a great ime and love the resort but this year it was exceptional. To our surprise we had new windows, new leather sofas and new carpet in our favorite unit. The hospitality was like never before. Every staff meber went out of thier way to ensure our stay was great. Anna and Jessica were great. An unexpected surprise was the Saturday night BBQ. Ofcourse we rebooked for next year.

We were sent a brochure in the mail promptly after we inquiered information through the Lake George Chamber. My husband and I decided to go to Lake George for the wekend to make plans for a family reunion this summer. When we arrived at the Depe Dene we were warmly greated by the General Manager Ana and escorted us to our room.The views from our room were breath taking. The unit was immaculate and the grounds were perfect. We had a wonderful weekend and the only down side was that he resort was totaly booked for the weeks we were available to come back. We hope perhaps for next year. The Connors

My friends and I stayed at Depe Dene this April and wow! What a great place. The views were wonderful. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. The hospitality was over the top. Thank you Depe Dene. We will be back.

The main house had a great view of the lake. So that was good. What was bad was all the dust. Bathtubs not working. Tiolets getting backed up. Cieling in room needed repairs. Juat all around cleaning needed to be doen. There were also no life guards at the beach, they said there would be some, not true. Theres much nicer places you can stay at.

I love the atmosphere but no offense the rooms were beyond dirty.I found food underneath the beds,kitchen was filthy,bed matresses were horrendous,cob webbs everywhere.I strongly believe that for $2000 a week the resort could do a little better.

There was nothing to like about this place. There were ants in the kitchen drawers and all over the place. The deck was filthy and so was the patio furniture. The place had cob webs all over the place and the dust was an inch thick. The light bulbs were missing in several rooms and no batteries in the smoke detectors.The bathroom ceiling was covered in mold and the roof leaked. The toilet didn't flush and the seat was broken. The shower malfunctioned with the water alternating between scalding hot and icy cold. No security at the boat docks. Stay as far away from this place as possible. We would give it no stars if possible.
