Great Western Inn Suites, Carlsbad

This motel was a very good value...we got a room with three beds for a very good price. The air conditioning worked well and the place was clean and well maintained. There is a nice indoor pool and hottub. They have wireless internet. My only complaint is that although the room had a fridge and microwave, it did not have a coffee maker. I went to the lobby for coffee at 9:15 and there was none!!!! They said that they only have it until 9:00. I was dumbfounded. I would stay here again but buy a coffee maker at Walmart, or plan to get up earlier. Also, there is no hairdryer, so bring your own. They allow pets for $7.00 extra.

Room was somewhat clean. Non smoking but smelled of smoke. Told owner who tried to accuse us of smoking in room. Small kids in pool un-monitored, appeared to live there. Paid for room on credit card, got home and checked statement, charged twice for room. Called and owner said was someone other than his fault. Would be corrected in a few days. Will contact Credit Card Company. Pay attention to your credit card statements. Only stay if you pay cash. Not worth the hassle.

i like averything about this motel. espesially the pool, it was big and nice, they had spa too. the room was clean and the bathroom was really clean, the bed was nice, they have t.v. and micrwavve, they have three bedrooms, too. the location was really good. and it was really quite over ther.i really enjoyed living here. people were so nice and friendly. i would really like to stay here.

This hotel offers little if any perks. The only part we really enjoyed is the pool but it only goes up to 5' deep, has cracks along the bottom, and is surrounded with extremely slippery tile. The rooms are average size, worn out and outdated furniutre, no irons or alarm clock, microwave older than me, no water pressure in the shower, and old stained pillows that I refused to use. The mattresses are probably the same but I was afraid to look! They do offer a breakfast but it consists of bad coffee, cheap juice, and week old donuts. Another problem we also had is they charged us for making local calls. Even after refusing to sign the credit card form, they still charged us for the calls. I highly recommend you avoid this hotel.

Hotel was not clean. Bed spreads were dirty. Box springs had nails sticking out. Showers curtains was dirty and hot water was difficult to figure out.

Resonable rates, clean, good service. Great location near city as well as on the way to Caverns. Friendly, glad you are here attitude.Plentiful parking. Quiet envioroment.

This hotel was supposedly "recently remodeled." I would like to know what that means. The doors to the rooms badly needed paint...and that was the first impression. Upon entering our room, my first comment was "Gross!" It smelled bad, and looked bad. Everything in the room (furniture, walls, bedspreads, carpet, etc.) felt like it had a layer of film or slime on it. The walls had stains and filth on them. The towels were tiny, thin, and had holes in them. The pool was big, indoors, and very warm. It also tasted salty and seemed to be full of chemicals. I actually broke out in an itchy rash after swimming in it. The location of this hotel was its only good point. We would have gone to another hotel immediately, but there is a policy that you have to cancel 48 hours in advance or you will still be charged. We managed to survive 2 nights there, but the sheets were coming off the bed, I didn't let anything of ours touch the floor, I wouldn't even lay my baby on the bed without his own blanket underneath him. Unfortunately, our experience with this hotel cast a negative light on an otherwise fun family trip.
