A nice place but some things you should know
By Dallas commentator, 8/22/11
This is a convenient and comfortable place to stay. Like my wife and I, it is definitely on the senior circuit. So, as not to be surprised, there are a few things you should know. Most rooms are small throughout. They call it cozy. This is not the place for big people. We felt a bit cramped even though we are small people. This is not a traditional B&B. It is like many in Santa Fe, an old house extended and converted into a small inn with an absentee owner (if the owner was there at all, she stayed in the office up front and never greeted guests again after check-in). However, there is a good staff and they were busy about and helpful. The breakfasts are much better that the packaged Holiday Inn Express--type B&Bs that you can find in Santa Fe or elsewhere. They don't have AC that many Americans are used to. It is an evaporative cooler, which they urge you not to use and just keep the windows open. That works most of the time but you can occasionally hear outside noise and you worry a bit about privacy. If you drive a big Suburban, the parking lot is tight. I didn't know what other reviewers meant by this until I got there. Fortunately, we drove a small SUV. The only scenic aspect of this B&B is a little courtyard with fountain and some flowers. I'm a gardener and I felt the place wasn't beautiful. The El Paradero is tucked between two parking lots -- one for an office building --- which you can't use. The big question is whether my wife and I would go back. We would --- we liked meeting other seniors --- but we would look around first. It is hard to pick the perfect place on the Internet. There is so much deception in this business.

A bit cramped and noisy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/17/11
Pleasant staff and wonderful (though small) breakfasts. Nice decor. Be aware that these rooms are on the small side and the hallways can be a bit noisy.

Quaint..Restful..Lovely
By Ellen B, 7/31/09
This bed and breakfast was delightful. Our room was wonderful and the private balcony..ahh. The owner is very personable and made our experience one to remember! Each morning they serve a very healthy breakfast. We met some new friends during the afternoon tea and breakfast. El Paradero would be top on our list.... I

A great place to stay.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/07
We loved this bed and breakfast. No tv in rooms and that was great. You daren't have to listen to the drone of someone else's tv at nite. The afternoon tea was just wonderful and nearly all the guests made sure they were back from their daily adventures to partake in this. Breakfast was also very good, even for a vegetarian. The location was great for walking to many of the sites my daughter and I wanted to visit. The staff was very congenial and helpful in every way. We can't wait to go back......

El Paradero - lovely, warm, friendly, perfect!
By michellep, 11/15/05
el paradero was a perfect spot for our romantic long weekend getaway. matt and jen, the owners, look to be in their late 20s, and were professional, friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful to us. they have kept the traditional sante fe styling with cute interiors....which we LOVED! each morning, we awoke to the most delicious breakfast scents from the kitchen...who serves a full breakfast that's included in the room price? this place does! after stuffing ourselves with this epic breakfast, we'd waddle the 5 minute walk toward downtown...talk about a convenient location! the weather in early november was crisp, which made the fireplace in our room (room #6) a perfect way to end our days. you can't beat this place. great price, gracious hosts, and perfect location (with parking).

Fantastic, charming B&B
By Brendan Rich, 8/4/04
I have nothing but praise for El Paradero. My wife and I have now stayed there twice and have been thoroughly impressed on both occassions. The building itself is perfect "Santa Fe": adobe, Southwest decorations, very charming. Great location: quick, easy walk to the heart of downtown. The breakfast is truly delicious. The owners, Matt & Jen, as well as the entire staff, are friendly and professional. Very knowledgeable of Santa Fe and the area, gave great recommendations. We really feel like El Paradero gives us the true Santa Fe experience. Will certainly stay there next time. Highly recommend it to all.

Real Santa Fe feel
By Matt L, 4/30/04
This great building has Santa Fe flavor with its adobe walls and ceiling vigas. Nestled off a side street in the historic downtown area of the Plaza. Great food and prices, delivered by people who clearly love their jobs.
